Summary: To understand how mousetrap cars work you first need to understand the concept of mechanical advantage. There are 4 principles to win with a long distance car:

And 4 principles for winning with a speed car:

Finally, we visit the Science Olympiad to see these principles in action

      Great minds think alike.
I saw that and thought the very same thing as you did.
I wish I had as great a mind as Mark.

Husband: “No, honey, I can get all the groceries in one trip”

    • Christopher King says:

Using mechanical advantage to carry groceries actually wouldn’t work super well, unless they were literally too heavy to lift off the ground.

    • mon05 says:

Christopher King its a goddamn joke

    • Nevir202 says:

I get that it’s a joke, but mechanical advantage can definitely come into play in this.

I’ve tried to lift so many groceries at once that with the bags in my hands the length of my forearms wouldn’t let me lift them with what was essentially a bicep curl.

So I slid the handles up to my elbows, held them by curling my arms shortening the lever so the gravity had less of a mechanical advantage working against my muscles) and lifted with my whole body lol.

    • Pls Explain Life 3 says:

You used your core muscles + arms and legs
Good job on that one tbh

I wish we did something cool like this when I was in school… good job on the video! 🙂

BTW mark would be a great teacher.
