Led by Anthony Davis’s 30 points and 23 rebounds, the No. 7 seed Los Angeles Lakers defeat the No. 6 seed Golden State Warriors in Game 1, 117-112. LeBron James added 22 points and 11 rebounds in the victory, while Stephen Curry (27 points, 6 3pt. FG) and Klay Thompson (25 points, 6 3pt. FG) combined for 52 points for the Warriors. The Lakers lead the best-of-seven series, 1-0, with Game 2 taking place on Thursday, May 4 (9:00 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Since blocks were tracked in 1973-74, Anthony Davis joins Tim Duncan (twice) as the only players in NBA Playoff history to record 30+ points, 20+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 4+ blocks in a playoff game.
Anthony Davis becomes the 5th player in Lakers franchise history to record 30+ points and 20+ rebounds in a game, joining:
Elgin Baylor (11 times)
Shaquille O’Neal (9 times)
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (2 times)
Wilt Chamberlain (2 times)
Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole becomes the 1st trio in NBA Playoff history to record 6+ 3pt. FG in a playoff game.
Kevon Looney recorded his 4th game this postseason with 20+ rebounds, the most in a single postseason since Dwight Howard, 2009
Lakers’ shot blocking was on point tonight!! 👊💪👍
and everybody stepping up not just lebron! that was key!
That lebron block on curry was brutal
@Angela Washington shit I set a record on my FanDuel from lakers vs grizzlies 🤣🤣🤣 won $1.5k off game 6 alone 😂
@Y li keep on crying dudecant sleep?? hahaha
Tonight? Watch the Memphis series
That 14-0 run got me at the edge of my seat fr. What a game!
@Julius Yapo not scary at all lmao LA just needs to play better transition on defense & keep the perimeter locked down it’s obvious davis can hold the paint on his own
everyone talking about last shot by poole, not realizing if lakers just clean up this 14-0 run or ham calls a timeout, this not even a close game. Lakers controlled damn near whole game
@Craig Silver I only watched these highlights–was he in foul trouble? why’d the bench him?
@YaBoiiTrxx 😅.
@J. Ramirez indeed bro
Hope Davis continues to play like this.He’s unstoppable just don’t get injured.
@SeekingJesusChrist Tv and cury get injured too
@Blazing Shack Productions your comment is dumb in regards to basketball he is unguardable. Anybody can get injured
@Blazing Shack Productions That’s what they said. You do know that injuring a player isn’t a strategy the other team has at their disposal right?
I know. Every time he jumps or get bumped o get nervous haha
Please don’t say about injury AD thanks
Crazy game! I love the energy. Lakers just got to watch out for the 4th quarter Warriors. They always make a comeback in the 3rd and 4th, had me getting nervous. I’m glad we were able to hold on and get the W but there needs to be adjustments made defensively for the Lakers. AD being the AD we knew in 2020! Hoping he stays healthy cause he will Always Dominate if he’s healthy and motivated.
This was the best. California rivalry with all of the best players, just the best of the best kind of game. Feels like this is the championship.
The Lakers played their best game of the season. Very impressive defense and great coaching.
@T Baskerville i agree completely.
This was not their best game. Their shots are really not falling. The gm6 against memphis is their best game offensively and defensively.
AD certainly did. The game wouldn’t have been close if the Warriors weren’t hitting absolutely every shot from 3
Not the best, strong win nonetheless
@Dean Talamantes all the great coaches make their teams play through runs Pop, Phill and many others. You can’t bail them out everytime they gotta beable to get punched in the jaw and punch back
Suffered 4 strokes 3 heart attacks watching this so happy we won game 1 go lakers 🎉
Did you win money or did the team pay your bills? If not then who cares who wins.
That’s what we need to do is keep banging inside. Chip away and go to the line. Yes gs gonna hit 3s but not the hard ones consistently
really dude I’d hate to see what would happen to you in a game 7 I was nervous but dam it’s just game one bro
Praise God ! !
Glad you still here 🌿 🙏🏿 !!!
😂
Davis can’t be stopped when he’s healthy. The collection of role players is also brilliant.
What a game!! From a fan who’s followed since the late ‘80s. Last nights game was refreshing! #LakerNation
@marctastic Lakers will choke on the next game
Lakers in 6
@Jason Lewis hopefully, they bring out the best in each other. Let’s see what the next one brings!
it was a nice game. it will go to 7 games most likely
LeBron has a real team now. Happy for him. Davis playing to his potential, Russell is big time, and role players like Vanderbilt and Reeves making plays.
This is Davis team
😂
@Darrell Bruce dont forget about rui
@Myke Mynah Lonzo can’t shoot consistently enough id take reeves hands down Ingram needs the ball too much and hart is not bad but his squad now is deff way better. AD , Reeves, Dlo much better chemistry
@Myke Mynah this team better more players can make plays for themselves
