Please retire. Don’t become Derek Jeter in his later years, do what Ortiz did and retire on top.
The funny thing is that by retiring this year, he winds up being on a short list of “players who hit 20hr in both their first and final season” with only Ted Williams.

As a cubs fan, this man DOMINATED us. But I can’t help shedding a tear watching this man hit 700 (he probably hit 300 of them against the cubs). I have nothing but respect for this man, a true legend.
I live in Pittsburgh and have been rooting for him to make this achievement for the past few months he probably hit more home runs against the Pirates than any other team I’d imagine didn’t make one bit of a difference in how I feel about this accomplishment!

‘93 kid here, my entire childhood was spent watching this dude beat the brakes off of Houston and hating him for it. 20 years later I found myself rooting for a legend to get a cowboy’s sunset, and I couldn’t be happier that he did. What. A. Moment.

@Dan Yes this is correct. They keep saying he is 42 years old. Some time back he slipped up and gave his true birth date he is closer to 45.
