Anderson Cooper’s tribute to his friend Anthony Bourdain

Anderson Cooper’s tribute to his friend Anthony Bourdain

In death, as in life, Anthony Bourdain brought us closer together.

On his award-winning series, “Parts Unknown,” Bourdain brought the world home to CNN viewers. Through the simple act of sharing meals, he showcased both the extraordinary diversity of cultures and cuisines, yet how much we all have in common.

Tragically, he proved this again on Friday. Bourdain’s death shook television viewers around the world. The most common sentiment: “I feel like I’ve lost a friend.”

Oh my goodness… I fight depression myself… we hide it deep inside…. but I tell my self just hold on one more day. As tomorrow things could changes… I am still hoping… it’s not easy… but you can’t give up… regrets are a chance to change your path… look forward not back… some times the path is not easy we all take one step at a time move your feet and enjoy the journey it’s yours alone , you never know what you will fined around the corner.. … if you give up, you could miss something so special! Your life! So don’t give up… you are never truly alone… take a chance reach out don’t be afraid to ask for help… open the phone book call the number in your area the suicide hot line…. some one will be there to listen… and tomorrow is a new day a new start.. and today will be the past…

Ive had deep and lasting bipolar disorder for 25 years. The highs can be fun, but the lows are absolutely crushing. Ive contemplated suicide many many many times. The only thing that keeps me here is my profound belief in reincarnation and in knowing that death is not the end. But a door. And whatever you could not conquer in this life, you will repeat in the next. Your dark side is not something you slay. Its meant to give you a different understanding of existence. Darkness is real. Shake its hand, respect it, and know that the good that exists in you is greater. Its a test used to discover your best self. If you were always happy, you would never stretch. Until you get weary. Stretch. Understand. Empathise. Love. Rest in greatness Bourdain

MsTuliplady May you and all of us keep striving. This world is no joke.

Very, very well said. I’m sorry to here about your everyday situation
You have to deal with. But so wonderfully greatful, I was able to read your reply you posted on YouTube. Gonna miss Anthony and his shows insight. But everyday is a new day to hope and try. You will never be better off choosing death over life. Stay , live,
      love w/ us.

Not sure anyone can truly understand until they’ve been there themselves. One of the unfortunate social and societal side effects of this malady. And it is a malady. The first step is recognizing it. Then, fighting it, knowing it’s going to be a long, hard battle — possibly lifelong, as you say. The only way to deal with it, I suspect, is to listen to the advice of your friends and stay as close to them as possible.

  3. Lord Tigranes says:

Hard to believe he would do such a thing. Anthony just filmed a show in Armenia. I’m sorry but I believe it wasn’t suicide. A person like Anthony has seen the world he knows better. In my heart, I know he knew better than to commit suicide. RIP my friend ❤💙💛from Armenia.

I’m Amazed at how Bizarre many of the comments are about Bourdain. Seems as though he was Loved and Admired by many but on the other side of the fence many Vicious comments about his being Liberal and Glad he Died Blah, Blah, Blah……So much Hate in the World over differing Beliefs……So sad.

    • American Monster says:

Just another crazy liberal who couldn’t hack the real world.

    • Nobody says:

      Esteban A. “Goals?”
Like banning an entire race of people from his talks?
Like extorting people who have no ties to America’s slave trade by garnishment of all white wages?
Like being so self-loathing you’ll spend millions to prove Jews aren’t white and your a Jew?
Like feeding two world leaders hemlock and starting a world war so all the whites will fight and die?
Like making forced race mixing a thing, to eliminate whites from the gene pool?
You need to reevaluate some things and if you’re white and can’t understand the 14 words, join him please.
We are 7.3% of the world’s population, how are we to blame for everything??
      Ever heard of a scapegoat?
      I bet they’re white.

  12. Princess Sarah says:

He did an amazing amount for recovering addicts. Changing opinions and being open about a subject that many denied. I’m saddened by this. I loved him.

    • Pete Bauman says:

Princess Sarah, he openly wanted all White people to die. You love a genocidal monster? Do you love Hitler? You’re either ignorant to who Bourdain was or you are satanic

    • Pete Bauman says:

He did openly call for the genocide of all White children. He was scum aka Hitler on LSD

    • Captain Conservative says:

      4GUESTS BOOOWHOO😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    • Donna Conrad says:

…A great loss! So sad! Every interview he mentions having a great life – doesn’t make sense; leaving a girlfriend, leaving his daughter behind. Makes me wonder if an autopsy report could show proof if there was a deficiency of Vitamin D that caused his depression. If it was more medical, rather than, emotional. Someone that would travel as much as he did, there had to be times of great jet-lag, or lack of sleep, drinking more coffee, or self-medicating to stay alert/stay awake.

I don’t know one celebrity that was so respectful to so many different cultures. The world, not just this country, lost a legend.

    • Pete Bauman says:

Openly wishing for the deaths of all White people is respect for different cultures??? You’re a special kind of stupid or an old fashion type of evil

So true what Anderson said he finds those heavanly words which makes me a grown man cry he truly has the best words ever this illness makes me wanna quit sometimes but my kids need me as long as I can why did he hurt his children like that ?? Im suffering every day what is my reason to go on then … maybe loosin my eyesight but I must go on rest in paradise anthony

    • Chris Howard says:

That is the reason for myself having struggled with it every day for 27 yrs the thought never really leaves my head I’ve come to terms with it’ll be one day. But for my kids sake I try to postpone it for as long as I can. There’s just some days it’s hard escape the hold it has on you.

    • Nik Lay says:

Chris Howard Sorry to hear that and death is inevitable but the lasting effects it leaves on your children..Our children should outlive us..You’ll get to the other side eventually dont be in such a hurry to get there🤲🤲❤

    • sreach1991 says:

H.N.I.C sometimes if you can withstand the pain you have in your entire body and you have the will to live then you must tolerate it or take pain meds to get it stop for awhile but tolerating the pain for many years is hard if you have a drug addiction that nearly helps slow the pain down but the human has it’s limits and it’s up to that person to decide if he or she can’t take it any longer and choose death to end their suffering

    • WhirledPeace says:

H.N.I.C I may not know you, but as part of this human race that we are all joined by, we are family.

I hope you don’t feel alone and that you know that you’re loved, even by people who have never met you. Our souls link us, all of us.

We are family, please, take care. I care. 🕊

    • WhirledPeace says:

🕊Chris Howard I can’t imagine what you’re going through. I know that all our bodies are made differently and some people are wired to feel things more… Or less than others. It sounds like you feel sadness and darkness more than the rest of us and that’s unfair. Just know that you’re not alone. I admire and respect you so much for fighting every day for the past 27 years, fighting so that someone else will not feel that sadness darkness and despair if you took your own life. I think it shows great strength to have love win, Despite having the feeling inside you of darkness and wanting to stop the pain.

I wish I had answers for you, but I don’t. I just want you to know that some stranger in Canada cares about you. I want you to win. I want you to survive this darkness. Whatever light you can find whatever goodness you can see whatever makes you happy chase it, tackle it to the ground, embrace it and devour it. Let those small moments of light consume you so when you’re hungry for them you know that they’ll be back.

Please keep staying strong. You have the power to make this world a greater place, a better place while you are still in it. If you were to go it would make the world for everyone who knew you turn dark and make all those people feel what you feel now. I don’t want you to suffer, but just as importantly I don’t want those who love you to suffer either. You have the power. You are power, and you are loved.🕊
