Last night’s Buffalo Bills-Cincinnati Bengals came to an abrupt halt when Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field. Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest and was given CPR on the field to restore his heartbeat before being transferred to a local hospital where he is in critical condition. The game was suspended just over an hour before being officially postponed. Nick Wright, Chris Broussard, Kevin Wildes and Eric Mangini discuss.

Nick’s take is stellar and spot on. Sometimes bad things happen unexpectedly, seemingly without reason, and people want things to make sense so they look to blame someone or something. It’s easier to be mad than to deal with the fear that comes with the fact that these things could happen to any one of us.

Hug your loved ones often, you never know when life will change. Thoughts and prayers for Damar.

    • Jasper Egan says:

@Chris Collins how and why would it be scripted? Throwing baseless claims out like that dies more harm than good

    • O M says:

except for the fact that it WAS a football injury or at least a sports injury. it’s well known that commotio cordis does occur in impact sports.

    • The Real Hingle McCringleberry says:

@James Bond Dang😂 you seem like a person people love to be around. People love negativity and insensitivity. I doubt that you’re lonely at all. Good for you!

    • Arkham Knight says:

      I’m sending u a virtual hug 🫂

    • Kimo Coloma says:

I agree and it’s fortunate for professional athletes that they get paid hundreds of millions for playing a game. Think of the men and women serving the Military those on the frontlines, those who loss their lives and those who served (Veterans) at minimum wage.

I had immediate Flashbacks to the 2021 EUROs with what happened with Christian Eriksen at the Denmark – Finland Game. The NFL showed class with postponing the game, more class than the UEFA did back then. It was almost the exact same situation. I am praying for Damar. Christian made it back and so will he.

    • K0E says:

Unfortunately they had to do CPR on Hamlin for 7 or 9 minutes… thats never a good sign and usually doesnt stay without consequeces. I hope that Im wrong but I dont think this poor guy can make a recovery like Eriksen

    • Artur Harper says:

Pro athletes push themselves to the limit.. Parents should weigh that thought before pushing their kids. Google it, countless people actually have died on the field, soccer, hockey, basketball, ect. smaller stages but still died. Hearts just could not take it. The medics that brought Eriksen and Damar back to life are HEROES. Because often people do not get brought back.

    • Kai Esser says:

@Deon 313 Neither you nor me are in the position to judge wether it’s different or not.

    • Deon 313 says:

@Kai Esser one was ok the other guy wasn’t. It’s a big difference.

    • Ask Me says:

@Kai Esser Both teams were out of it, the game felt like everyone played on auto setting. I’m from Finland and it was our first match in World or Euro stage, yet no one could celebrate or even feel good because of what happened.

  3. Vintage27 says:

Sorry for your loss Chris 🕊️🙏🏾, prayers up to you and the family.

Whether it’s jokes, whether it’s serious stuff, these guys always, ALWAYS manage to hit the right note. Really appreciate the candor from all the guys giving us a glimpse into their personal lives so we better understand what they’re trying to say. Prayers up for Damar

  5. Tusk in Radar says:

That was a great segment, grounded, human, somber, echoing what a lot of the sports world is feeling right now. Thanks guys.

Very respectful and classy response from the show, but no surprise. This is such a top notch show with great people. Prayers and hope for Damar as he continues fighting.

    • Jgg says:

@JW drugs? I was a first responder for 4 years if you obviously have no knowledge of a subject why speak on it? Last night that reaction had absolutely nothing to do with drugs it was a freak accident resulting in cardiac arrest. It happens in baseball and lacrosse more often when you get hit and the perfect time (the worst time) right in the chest ur heart stops I’ve dealt with it before

    • Elijah Hutchins says:

      Except for nick he’s a d-bag

    • T P says:

@JW what? Drugs is just a ludicrous, unfounded, and disrespectful claim

    • Dan Stevens says:

This will keep happening sadly, cause of the covid experimental eugenics poke

    • Big Van Vader says:

You all must be Cheif fans. Nick Wright is an anti-Bills trash bag.

  7. Aman Chabra says:

Well handled by everyone here and throughout the FS1 family of shows today. Continued prayers to Damar Hamlin and his family, and prayers for Chris Broussard and his family.

Thankful that there are those who are out there who can articulate the correct sentiment to pass along at this moment in time. Be. Compassionate. You never, ever, know what someone else is going through. Great job here Nick, Coach, Wildes and Bru. Go Bills and Prayers up for Damar Hamlin, his family, his teammates. Again, I want to give props to the Cincinnati Bengals and their fans. Utter class through it all.

this has to be one of the hardest things people in sports media have ever had to cover, and you all did it with the grace and respect it deserved. thank you.

  10. Space African Jesus says:

Man, Nick hit it out of the park. People want to make sense of things sometimes you just can’t make sense of. Much of the lashing out is people afraid of the idea that this could happen to anyone, and it’s a projection of our own insecurities because of how truly fragile our lives are and how they can be.

    • 777zippy777 says:

@Pui DeMare I know, right? I read it on the interweb machine, so it MUST be true! Oh, and the moon-landing was faked, and the NFL is rigged, the earth is flat, and Elvis orchestrated 9/11.
Hold on, my tin foil hat is coming off…

    • SSJ Phenom says:

@Zack Attack So what you’re saying is that you go with the very first thing you see online and don’t do any meaningful research on your own? Since you’re obviously a right wing hack that would mean that Google will show information from that realm first instead of accurate and factual information. Makes total sense now why you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.

      ✌🏾🤡

    • Fábio Queirós says:

@Zack Attack oh, look, the kind of guy that Nick was actually talking about. No, there is no uptick whatsoever related to the vaccines, stats show it to be as safe as any other one. Commotio cordis is a medical phenomenon that has already been described and has happened before in baseball and is known to happen in blunt force trauma situations…

Any more idiotic nonsense mr know it all?

    • Fábio Queirós says:

      @Pui DeMare that’s a lie

    • Poker guy says:

@Zack Attack you still haven’t explained how you know this is the vaccine that is causing it instead of the actual COVID-19 disease itself or some other issue?
