Binging with Babish: Ube Roll from Steven Universe
This week, Lars Barriga makes a reflection of himself in the form of a neon-purple sweet potato roulade. Beach City’s resident grouch is no slouch in the kitchen, so no wonder it takes me 8+ tries to get the friggin thing right. Baking is hard, guys.

Please make Marco’s Super Awesome Nachos from Star vs the forces of Evil or make the Sandvich from Team Fortress 2
You should make the pizza from That’s So Raven cooked with knitting needles and motorbike batteries.
So thanks to Babish we can confirm that Lars is a really good baker ??
Take a lesson from the show, Babish. “If every pork chop were perfect, we wouldn’t have hot dogs.”

Proceeds to make Swiss Meringue buttercream.
Plot twist: he’s an athiest

Fresh ube is hard to find?
Filipino people: SEAFOOD CITY
this is painfully true… coming from a fellow filipino
Lehitimo
Love that place
Did somebody say seafood city?!?!
Lmaooo for real
When I came to the U.S. for the first time as a kid, my heart sunk when I found out that ube and mango ice creams weren’t common knowledge among American children. Talk about missing out!
jp3813 I lived here for over 35 years and I came from the Philippines at 6 yo. I’ve been eating ube, makapuno, and mango ice cream since coming here.
I know what you mean. It’s hard to find especially here in the southern states.
Yeah I get what you’re saying
Not sure where in the U.S. you’re referring to, but Mango ice cream is super common where I’m from. Ube is another story though.
@MrCactuar13 it’s not the same. Ube is a purple yam and taro is a vegetable root.
How tired do I have to be to read the title as: “Lars Lube Roll”, and still click to watch it…
You too, huh?
I wonder if you could deep fry in an oil based lube
I knew I wasn’t alone
Same here I was so scared
this shit made me feel so happy when i saw it on tv, like yo,,, lars was half filipino? i love that
Apparently, alot of voice actors in that show are Filipino. So they wanted to show some love.
I always thought Steven was Vietnamese judging by his shirt
Then I watched the show
@MonotoneYay lmao
Man since your on that diet, i would be willing to lay my health on the line and finish off the foods you cant man…ya know just as a thank you
Filipino grandmothers have joined the chat
UBE?!? Sign me up! I’m down for any thing ube flavored, especially ube ice cream ?
@Andrew San they did? Cool.
@nadir faroug well there’s an ube bubble tea in boba shops. But I think in America ube is mostly known as taro. So technically it is ube bubble tea.
stylesuaad xo Get Magnolia, it can be found paired with their mango flavor
Halo Halo for sure.
@ItzARainbowz Its not Ube most of the time but Taro. Similar kind of Yam, but different species.

I like that this wasn’t perfect all the way through. It feels like real life when I am trying re-create what I see on this channel. I’m always redoing and spending time making whatever youre making. Thanks for keepin it real Babish. ?
Babish would die before giving up on a recipe. Thank you, we appriciate your service! * salutes *
