    • SageMacBunny says:

+IBALIDERPFACE It means that there were 200 layoffs at Buzzfeed and Niki was one of them

    • 8362072 says:

IBALIDERPFACE Being let go in this context means it’s not optional.

    • Mero Rin says:

      SageMacBunny Omg Why??

    • SageMacBunny says:

+Mero Rin From the CEO: “Over the past few months, we’ve done extensive work examining the trends in our business and the evolving economics of the digital platforms. We’ve developed a good understanding of where we can consolidate our teams, focus in on the content that is working, and achieve the right cost structure to support our multi-revenue model. We are confident the changes we are making will put us on a firm foundation and allow us to invest and grow sustainably for years to come.

I’m so proud of what our team accomplished over the last year, including diversifying our revenue, and growing our business double digits. Unfortunately, revenue growth by itself isn’t enough to be successful in the long run. The restructuring we are undertaking will reduce our costs and improve our operating model so we can thrive and control our own destiny, without ever needing to raise funding again. These changes will allow us to be the clear winner in the market as the economics of digital media continue to improve.”

Niki is in so many videos, I can’t wrap my head around the fact that Buzzfeed seriously thought it would be smart to let her go. I’m gonna miss her so much but I’m really looking forward to what she’s gonna do next!

  15. Izzy says:

I’ll miss her. She and Rie are the greatest Tasty duo!

  16. Emily Davis says:

I feel really bad for so many former buzzfeed employees right now. People like Niki are having their personal experiences profited on by a company that essentially threw them aside. It’s just not right.

    • Connor Reda says:

Its happened before with MANY MANY people. It’s too bad. But a lot of them have moved on to better things

    • Xenojink says:

      What’s Niki’s full name?

    • Kristina R says:

I get what you’re saying but, it’s just business in the end.
They were payed for the videos they made, when they made them. And most likely they were really happy to share their story to a large audience and be heard by so many people ?‍♀️
If we look from that point of view, many of their ex employees used the company name to profit from it and start their own career and shit on buzzfeed along the way.
Let’s be real, most of them were not really qualified and now it’s up to them to use what they got from it.

    • wwaxwork says:

+Luke Zez If you want real journalism you have to pay for it. You want free videos on Youtube or free websites you’re going to get what get’s page views. Don’t blame them if you’re not willing to pay what real journalism is worth. Also they’ve broken enough real stories at this point the fake journalism tag just sound like bitterness because you find what they’re saying doesn’t match your world view.
