Dolores O’Riordan, The Cranberries singer, dead at 46

Dolores O’Riordan, the lead singer of popular Irish rock band The Cranberries, died Monday in London, her publicist said. She was 46.

“Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries, was in London for a short recording session,” her rep said in a statement to multiple media outlets, adding that no further details were available.

O’Riordan rose to fame as the gentle voice behind some of The Cranberries’ biggest hits, including “Zombie” and “Linger,” the latter of which, a lilting love song, served as the band’s breakthrough hit in 1993. The tune, with its distinctive string section, peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

such a tragic and sudden loss. words will never be able to describe what she meant (and still means) to me. she helped me in ways that no one was able to, all through her music. though her tour was interrupted, and she remained somewhat silent, I always felt her presence in this world. I felt as if she was there, recovering, and getting ready to reconnect with us, her fans. i have never been so shocked in my life. Dolores, thank you. you will be greatly missed.

Does anyone know how she died?

I’m a longtime cranberries fan and I think the band will do a few more tribute concerts to her and then they’ll break up and discontinue in her memory and honor too:

First Chester Bennington of Linkin Park died on [7/20/2017] and now a few months later, we lose Dolores O’Riordan of the cranberries today too on [1/15/2018]. I tell you, the music industry is gonna die and go out of business sooner or later because we’re losing all of the greatest original legend artists left and right and all of these modern day rap and pop stale and irrelevant illuminati puppets all can’t help improve the music industry and improve music at all now or ever because they all killed the music industry and they all destroyed music 11 years ago in [2007] other than a few good songs. So rest in peace Dolores and may you and Chester sing songs in heaven together! Thank you and I love you two Dolores and Chester.

Garbage sucks. Linkin Park wasn’t good music.

    • edwrites 2018 says:

nasachusetts Depends on what style of music the listener enjoys. I always thought it was too depressing.

    • nasachusetts says:

I felt the same. Bunch of whiny spoiled Mama’s boys trying to be a harder emo 311. It’s like nails on a chalkboard for my ears. I like good music. Cranberries were original and a breath of fresh air.

You sound like a very ignorant old person when you act like only yours and previous generations have talented musicians.

You fail to realize that your parents said the same thing about our generation, the one you’re speaking of. They would laugh in your face if you told them either of these people are legends. But yet, they are legends.

In other words. Get over yourself. Just because you don’t like any of today’s artists, doesn’t give you the right to decide that all musician from today’s music is shit.

    • Eric Erickson says:

nasachusetts you’re just as ignorant as the OP with that stupid comment. You’re clearly a special kind of douchebag that doesn’t know shit if you actually want to refer to them as a “harder emo 311”. Seriously. You’re dumb as fuck.
