Unexpected looks like it won’t suck too bad. Still going in with low expectations, haha. Hoping it will be good!

Ooh, those first two D&D movies hurt you that way, too, huh? Or was it the Dragonlance adaptation? Or maybe both?

    • In The Kitchen With Matt says:

@alucard624 hahaha hope not, but won’t be surprised. Hollywood has still yet to do D&D justice.

    • alucard624 says:

@In The Kitchen With Matt Watch, it’ll suck worse than direct to DVD D&D flicks which had ZERO budget.

    • In The Kitchen With Matt says:

@Troops + Trekkers The trailers don’t always have that same music in the actual film. With that said, the rock music totally worked for A Knight’s Tale. Hopefully, they don’t use the same music though and just use a good fantasy score, even just something from Two Steps From Hell would be good. But yeah, that cast (mainly those two) wouldn’t have been my first choice, haha. But will reserve judgement until I actually see it. Can’t suck worse than that putrid one from 2000.

@Troops + Trekkers hate that negativity, think positively

  2. Dontez says:

This trailer is FULL of D&D spells, creatures, and locations straight out of the books.
It is full of Fan service. 😍
This is how Fan IPs should be made.

    • Matt Moseley says:

@Genereaver can’t tell if sarcasm or not, but that’s kinda a petty detail. The books in the settings never follow the rules 1-to-1 either, so this isn’t unexpected. Also adding some monstrosities over elementals would be better thematically for moon druids than current RAW (5.5 d&d future change hint maybe). Besides, true polymorph and shape-change are a thing still, maybe they’re all lvl 17

    • Genereaver says:

@Nick Paolini Possible, but if the characters are capable of slinging 9th-level spells I don’t know why you’d waste one to turn into an owlbear to fight a couple soldiers.

Also Shapechange is VSM, so she wouldn’t be able to cast it while she’s a horse.

    • Nick Paolini says:

      @Genereaver maybe she cast shapechange…

    • Genereaver says:

To some extent, but if the Tiefling is a druid she shouldn’t be able to wildshape into an owlbear. This just looks like a Generic Fantasy story with the name ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ stapled on; why even have the name if you aren’t going to follow the rules?

    • Aaron says:

But unnoticed so far it’s not a nostalgia you just consume content movie. It seems to be a simple story told in the dnd medium.

  3. William Atkinson says:

I honestly don’t know what to expect from most movies these days, This looks a lot better than I had hoped for. What ever they were going for I just wanted it done well, this looks like it has been done pretty well.

    • Androsofthewoods says:

@hyperguyver2 could be, but this one has a different hook. They did something bad and for whatever reason they feel responsible to fix it. GotG was a prison break movie.

So maybe similar characters but whole different story.

    • Mishi says:

@hyperguyver2 That’s literally what most dnd groups are at it’s core, Players don’t act like fantasy characters with shakespearean voices, It’s your chaotic band of misfits or your chosen ones who want the money or murder hobos

    • hyperguyver2 says:

Too bad it’s just Guardians of the Galaxy with a fantasy vaneer.

    • Victor Gonzalez says:

Paramount pictures did different on dungeon and Dragon movie than Warner Brothers dungeon and dragon movie.

  4. STG says:

Looks like a better budget than any other d&d related film I’ve ever seen. I would watch it regardless as I watched the others but Its good to see it catch on and gain more momentum as a genre. I have a feeling AJ, Jorphdan, and others too are a least partly responsible for spreading so much d&d knowledge. Thanks for everything you guys do.

  5. Scott Boyse says:

This looks great! A D&D movie has to be fun otherwise it’s just any other medieval fantasy whatever, and this trailer feels like the D&D I’m used to playing. Really hope that’s the style of music in the movie too

    • Akmal Ibrahim says:

If the movie doesn’t have a 30 minute detour because the crew got distracted with a random rock they thought is a clue, I’m giving it a 0.

Lol, kidding. This looks fun. Hopefully they have some of those DnD party silliness.

  6. Danny says:

This looks WAYYY better than I was expecting. Looks pretty fun tbh

  7. IronCX says:

I think the three things that made me happiest were:
The black dragon spewing acid and not fire (a super nice touch)
The inclusion of an owl bear (glad they’re not just using the typical fantasy creatures and are delving a little deeper into the D&D lore)
And the inclusion of the Green-Flame Blade cantrip (one of my favorite cantrips and recent, meaning there’ll be stuff from Tasha’s)

  8. Lynnyx says:

I was scared that this movie wasn’t going to be good but I am absolutely blown away from this trailer. This feels and looks like Dnd, the game that holds a special place in my heart, and a game me and my closest friends have been playing together every week for 2 years now. My party, Dawn’s March, and I are so excited to see this movie together next year. Thank you crew for bringing Dnd to live in an amazing way!

  9. Levi Luke says:

They really nailed the DnD aesthetic. This actually looks really good!

  10. Renegade LK says:

It would be really cool if they published something like a character sheet for each of the main characters since they’re DND characters. That would be an awesome promotional move and also just really fun if you want to play one of the characters from the movie in your own game.

    • Uldihaa says:

@Terry Ghast Um actually, WoTC said they were consulted extensively on this film and that some of the changes they have planned will be in this movie.

    • AmeriToast says:

@Bad Token yep, no matter what you will have dnd youtubers talking about what they got wrong and right from DnD. Atleast they could release the character sheets for people to have fun with or make similar builds.

    • Terry Ghast says:

@Bad Token um actually, she shouldn’t have been able to turn into an Owlbear because that’s a Monstrosity and the only way to do that would be high enough level that turning into an Owlbear would be inefficient

    • P says:

@Bad Token this. Release the sheets anyway I say!

    • Bad Token says:

@suntiger745 Like nerds won’t nitpick this movie anyway!
