Those looked like they turned out very well! I tried one of these vintage recipes (the tomato soup cake), and now I might have to add this one to my “to-do” list. Thank you for sharing these recipes and your delightful sense of humor with us!

The tomato soup cake was surprisingly good! Guess I’ll have to give this one a shot as well.

The bean pie was amazing and also broke my sense of reality.

Did you like the tomato soup cake? It’s one I grew up with and love.

These are basically flat truffles. You can flavor that filling with any extract, or even something wild like instant cocoa, espresso powder, instant Chai tea, or [and be careful with this as it stains] Kool-aid style powdered fruit mixes.

Just don’t add fruit juice as it isn’t powerful enough (even the concentrates) and you would need to add too much moisture before you taste anything but the powdered sugar. It’s just got to be more powerful than my desire to go back to college.

Tried the tomato soup cake club fistbump! And it worked and was great fistbump!

This was the very first thing we made in cooking class at school, all the way back in 1995. Imagine giving 30 eleven-year olds access to melted chocolate, powdered sugar and peppermint oil…

I had to be hosed down by my mum in the back garden before she let me in the house afterwards.

I don’t know why but the “get off the spoon” is what made me laugh the most

  7. GummyTumor says:

I used to hate peppermint patties, but now I love them and now that I know they’re easy to make I’m making a giant tray all for myself. I might add some crushed peppermint candy on top to give them even more peppermint flavor per bite.

    “How is this so perfect?”

    Because you’re perfect, Dylan.

I don’t like cooking shows. I don’t even enjoy cooking… But I’ve binge watched every single video of this random guy cooking. And I want more! Also, I love his sense of humor!

  10. Bribe says:

…I have the urge to do this with other flavors than peppermint extract, just to see what it’d be like

As a peppermint hater, so do I. As someone who really should lay off the sugar, I will not.

    • AmyD says:

I just got done writing about how this would be great with coconut, and then I see this! Lmao!
You could probably replace (or add to) the sweetened condensed milk with “Cream of coconut” (which is sweetened. “Coconut cream” is unsweetened) and maybe add a little bit if sweetened shaved coconut. 🥥

    • Theo the Derg says:

@AmyD I was literally thinking about coconut _and_ peppermint, went down to comment, and bam, here we are.
