Everything Wrong With The Amityville Horror (1979)

Everything Wrong With The Amityville Horror (1979)

Once upon a time, they made a third remake of The Amityville Horror. In anticipation of that, we wrote sins scripts for the first two. Then they delayed the new one for, like, years and we just sat on the scripts waiting. Then they dumped that new remake into theaters sneakily for a few days in the Fall of 2017, and we were like… “Sh*t, we can’t just waste these scripts.” And Christmas week came along and we all had plans and didn’t want to write sins, so we dusted off the Amityville stuff! So… there you go.

Tomorrow: Literally another Amityville Horror sins video.

Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie’s sins should we expose next?!

Sin #4 is something that has never been explained in the real life murders either.

    • Mikey Slakowski says:

That doesn’t make sense. The were three kids 13. 12. and 9 and an 18 year old sister and the mother and father. The father and mother were both shot two times, they think the mom and one of the kids was awake at the time but they were still face down? Three of them imo are way to old to hide in their beds by lying face down and that still doesn’t account for the older sister who should have absolutely been able to get out of their before her brother came along. The only thing that might make sense is that they were given sleeping pills but still doesn’t account for them being face down. Possibly the brother threatened them to get them in bed and lay face down before shooting them which makes the most sense except if you knew you were gonna get shot after you heard your parents and siblings being shot would you really just lay down? Still it’s the only rational explanation even though it’s still unlikely because of the families reactions and that it would have given at least one of them opportunity to escape

    • Jasmine Johnson says:

Mikey Slakowski A lot of people freeze in situations like this and just do what they are told, it’s really not weird.

    • Julia Caro says:

Can’t gunshots sound a lot like a car backfiring? Now, I’m not saying that a car backfiring six times in a row is normal, but both that and the ‘mind interpreting gunshots as thunder’ thing are still very much in the realm of possibility.

    • Ishie1013 says:

A bit away? Sure. We have a skeet range not too far from us, so we play “shotgun, fireworks, or thunder” regularly. A rifle or shotgun in the house? That’s not going to be mistaken for anything other than lightning actually striking the house. Small caliber handgun, maybe, but those other suckers are loud. The silencers proposed for rifles (which as a jogger, I’d like to not have legal) quiet the rapport to *only* a mile for reference.

Ironically, the shotgun killings of the six family members was the only thing truthful in this movie.

  4. ourWorld Lucy says:

“Sinning the originals because… remakes or sequels!” clichΓ©!

    • James Austin says:

Well, I mean, not only were there multiple Amityville Horror movies, but it’s technically tied in with The Conjuring too, which makes it related to Annabelle and The Nun as well, since they’re all based off the “case notes” of that couple

    • Paulafan5 says:

Yeah, it’s not fair to sin them for a cliche they invented (or one of the first to do). It’s not a cliche when they did a lot of that crap that became cliche. It was still a bad horror movie, but those sins were undeserved.

  5. james roy says:

Not to mention the story is fake

  6. TGOTR says:

The opening is based on a true story where DeFeo did gun his family down in their sleep….so yes they must have been the heaviest sleepers in existence.

  7. I Am Not An Artist says:

0:24 Cinemasins just sinned real life because the family really did sleep through the gunshots.

I lost it at the “Is someone taking glass harp lessons in the living room?” notion. That was great!
Also, since this is a horror movie, it’s more like the demons turned Father Delaney into Darth INSIDIOUS. Mwahhaha!

    • Joanne Jamieson says:

I believe the Amity demon horrors are fake/made up but just because you’re a skeptic of ghosts and demons in general doesn’t mean you’re right David.. Those are just YOUR beliefs. I like to keep an open mind. This is an entire universe, we cannot be the only ones roaming it.

    • Jake Smith says:

      Kevin Geoffrey you’re a grade A dumbass

    • TropicalPriest says:

AAAAHHHHHKKKKTUALY, the dad made up the whole thing about ghosts to hide his abusiveness. And, the moron ghost hunters were complicit because it helped their moron careers.

    • Ishie1013 says:

But we can be the only ones roaming this particular planet. But yeah, family 2 made the whole haunting up, and subsequent families have removed the attic eyes. Their main problem is keeping people off the lawn. Also the movie’s kind of garbage.
