First Images of Black Holes!

First Images of Black Holes!

The Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration observed the supermassive black holes at the center of M87 and our Milky Way galaxy (SgrA*) finding the dark central shadow in accordance with General Relativity, further demonstrating the power of this 100 year-old theory.

To understand more about why the shadows look the way they do, check out:

I will continue updating this description with more links.

So we can build a bigger telescope by having a swarm of sattelites at L2?

We didn’t get a pic of a black hole today we got a pic of a black hole from 54 million years ago! ??

      What everyone else said.

This is actually a fun concept. If wormholes end up being real and we figure out a way to go through them and end up somewhere else, we’d technically be able to wormhole 66 million light years away, turn a telescope back around and see the asteroid wipe out the dinosaurs.

    • Nick Hohl says:

+Westin Johnson that is a fun concept, well assuming the light hadn’t hit anything to get to where the wormhole left us.

jayro regalado there’s a theory that since for how far we are is how long ago it was or something like that so he’s right

+mrmiura story Its only 2019, who knows what the future holds, we will advance and evolve technology, grant it we will most likely miss most of this but it is very dumb to say that we wouldn’t have something like flying cars, we’ve made jets that can fly 500-750 mph, we’ve made telescopes that can see planets and galaxy’s light years away, we’ve made bombs that are able to demolish whole cities, this is only the beginning of technological advancement, in our life time we will most likely witness the first mars landing, introduction of robotic “life”, another moon landing, efficient space travel, maybe even the manipulation of lighting to make holograms, i would say its very possible for flying cars, and seeing how you are guilable enough to have one interview convince you otherwise is pathetic.
