whats with all the star wars hype these days? There hasn’t been a good
starwars movie since before I was born, granted that was mostly Hayden
Christensen’s fault. Why is everyone so sure that they arn’t pulling
    another phantom menace on us?

As an addendum to the Pretty Boy thing, I am reminded of Bulma’s reaction
to Zarbon: ” KILL IT WITH FIRE!” We could only wish that more pretty boys
    would have this fate.

    Loved the Les Mis reference.

Never knew there was this much bs when it came to “young adult” movies. I’d
just watch the movie, rate it and go home.

    Stages for me:

    1. Man, I hope this isn’t as bad as other movies in this genre. It was well
reviewed enough but I’m hard to please.

    2. Hmm, this isn’t so bad, all things considered.

    3. Wait, wait, yes it is.

    4. I hope the book is better than this.

    5. Why do these YA dystopian novels always have to be so damn dark and
gritty. Do they not realize it is possible to have a dystopian future story
with “up”moments? Just ask the anime industry.

    6. How did I not see that obvious twist coming in a movie made for

    7. Well that wasn’t so bad, but I really should have waited for the DVD
release. I have no interest in seeing the three sequels.

I forget, are they on patrion? Or just whoring out the channel, so the gap
between HISHE’s doesn’t look like anything?

what’s really annoying is that you’re apparently only allowed to like
something if its not popular and once it becomes popular it loses its value
and is just seen as another dumb young adult book. before the hunger games
and tfios were popular you would only hear good things about them and the
minute they because mainstream everyone starts shitting all over them. like
I get that lots a people genuinely dont like it but a lot of people just
diss young adult literature without even reading any because its the cool
thing to do. the hunger games actually would have been more enjoyable if
people forgot the love triangle crap and remembered that its about the
slaughtering of teenagers for enjoyment and overthrowing an oppressive
government. unfortunately today’s society has more similar priorities to
the capitol than we like to think…

  17. AGuyInAHat says:

The best young adult series I’ve ever read was a Series of Unfortunate
events. It’s been nearly ten years since the last book was published,
things have really changed since then. Now everything’s all authoritarian
governments, dystopian futures, and paranormal romances. And I wouldn’t
mind if any of it was actually worth reading.
