This is the most outlandish theory he has about Yoshi, yet it somehow makes enough sense and seems plausible. Huge W for MatPat if this theory is proven canon in the future.

    • Xavier Mendez says:

One thing to keep in mind is that jump or we sacrifice Yoshi to make the jump, and we just hatch another Yoshi. Aren’t we just going through generations of Yoshi really quickly. They can all be Canon and just be like a he’s evolving in this direction.

    • Gimon says:

I think the munchakoopa is just a reference to him eating koopas

    • retro eye says:

I have seen your brother just some guy without a mustache

      I’d love to be Selena.Monster
is my idol. Hes the person I aspire to be, hes my light of day.

    • Sboink The Leg Day says:

Peach in Greek is ‘rodakino’ and originally ‘dorakino’. So in a very Japanese style you can make a portmanteau on Japanese for dragon and mushroom, ‘doragon’ and kinoko’, and come out with… ‘dora-kino’. Ancient GREEK word, for PEACH. Combination, of Toads and Dragons, that reproduces by fruiting. Fruit trees, as we sure know, is a common host to various FUNGI.

That’s why Bowser kidnaps peach. She exudes magic just by being located there, and that’s also what makes the various toads to grow into her human-like image.

  2. Mr. Easy Origami ART DIY: Paper Crafts says:

*Imagine if all MatPat’s theories actually came true? Like, you’re playing a Mario game, and suddenly spot a toad getting possessed by a mushroom?*

  3. The Annilators says:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but since dragons aren’t real and there isn’t an official classification for dragons and it varies from culture to culture, couldn’t dinosaurs be considered dragons?

    • Ultra Aryan 10 says:

Yep I also always assumed Dinosaurs and Dragons were the same thing and it seems pretty canon in Mario world. So Yoshi would a Dino-Turtle hybrid.

  4. Nekryone says:

    Yoshi has Osteoderms.
That’s what the “shell” is on his back and explains the red plates running down his back.
Just like Ankylosaurs with an adapted set of Osteoderms that form the club, Yoshi has surface formations that help protect his vulnerable back.
Would develop similarly to a Pachycephalosaurus skull.
Dragons were based on dinosaurs so it makes sense that they’d have similar traits

  5. Shimizu Hisagawa says:

I think “Plessie” is more a reference to “Nessie”, the Loch Ness monster, rather than a reference to the plesiosaur. Which would somewhat resemble a Nothosaur, according to legend anyway.

  6. MacCrae Toons says:

Yoshi’s not a dragon, dinosaur, or turtle. He’s unpaid labor.

    • Brian Calderon says:

      @Степан Бандера🇺🇦

    • CDWCAULDRON says:

No hes all of the above : Dragon, Dinosaur, Koopa =Yoshi Koopa : Comes In Blue , Green, Purple And RED, Dinosaur, Koopa Yoshi “Fire Yoshi”
and a Yoshi Koopa Troopa Is Wiled and will hunt down Mario & luigi and then theirs the one you would call a “”Snake”” but its not a ” Snake ” Its a Dragon turtle noodle Koopa Troopa.
its not what you all think!
Koopa Troopa’s work hard running after Mario & luigi .

    • Toby Garfield says:

@DIAMOND MEMER Someone’s gonna say it, I’ll get it out of the way…

      Yellow? Not Blonde? 😅

    • Toby Garfield says:

He’s the physical manifestation of an extra life.

Mario can survive taking a hit from an enemy or falling to his doom by sacrificing him.

That’s why when you already have him, extra lives come out of his egg instead. Because a second Yoshi wouldn’t be utilised in the same way.
If he was just following behind he wouldn’t be able to take a hit or be dumped into a pit for an extra jump. Therefore a second Yoshi wouldn’t be an extra life and can’t exist.

(Based on Mario knowledge that ends at Super Mario World.)

  7. Kyubbik Cat says:

MatPat: Is Yoshi Bowser’s long lost child?

Also MatPat: spends the whole video about what Yoshi probably is and Proceeds not to mention any connection between Bowser and Yoshi whatsoever.

    • ShadeLights says:

@Ultra Aryan 10 they wouldn’t be brothers otherwise bowser would be whatever hybrid Yoshi is aswell

    • Ultra Aryan 10 says:

More like they are long lost brothers but he has to clickbait since other titles would not get as much attention.

  8. Jake Anthony says:

I think the Dragon-Dinosaur thing comes from the fact that in Japanese, the word for dinosaur 恐竜 can also translate to mean “scary dragon” so yoshi is meant to simply be a play on that concept of the interchangeability of that word.

  9. To Have [S]EX With Me T[A]P Me!! says:

Yoshi’s not a dragon, dinosaur, or turtle. He’s unpaid labor.

  10. Marco Nasaruk says:

Fun fact: Yoshi is on Team Bowser in the ongoing “Peach vs. Bowser” tour in Mario Kart Tour.
