game theory: *talks about how souls are the nether energy source*

    me, screaming: *GEO-THERMAL*

      Me too

    • Forest City says:

      I thought that too!!

    • ldelgg h says:

@Daniel Voronin yeah, but that also applies to the actual soul energy, since i dont think souls keep nutrients and minerals. Plus, these nutrients could just come from the soil

    • AbleRunnerEli says:

Yessss. And if it’s a planet with under ground inhabitants the warping of the planets from gravity in and around it’s system. That’s why europa has liquid oceans under it’s ice-sheets!!!

    • Daniel Estrada says:

I know nothing about how energy works, but will lava form without an initial source of energy?

  4. StapleGolf says:

I just can’t stop think about how much like an alien conspiracy theorists when he talks about the Endermen being ancestors 😂

now that ive seen how these videos are made i can’t pay attention to the animations and can only imagine matpat sitting in a room talking to himself

  7. Gil Wanderley says:

MatPat: “There is no source of energy in the nether”
Me, after burning in liquid *hot* magma: “Are you sure about that?”

    • Dennis Shaykevich says:

@Lars Tallinger It doesn’t have to be renewable. Much like how we get energy from the sun that will explode on day, so to does the nether get energy from the magma pools. It WILL eventually cool and become unusable, but what’s important is that there is enough energy to sustain the ecosystem _now_ .

    • ColonelJayWrites says:

@Dennis Shaykevich True. But the energy has to have come from somewhere, right? The only other factor I can think of that came from places elsewhere is really the souls, as Matpat suggested—although you’re right in the regard that it could power the nether by itself for a while.

    • Mr Muto says:

Actually no, you see bio-thermal energy can’t sustain life, at least on the scale of the nether. In fact the lava pools would make it harder for life to flourish because of the heat produced by it. If what you say is true, then why aren’t active volcanoes full of life?

    • Jason Bourne says:

@Metazoxan Dexall ya but the nether is so hot the lava wouldn’t cool down

    • RoseLaflesh says:

@Metazoxan Dexall Why do you think there’s lava and magma in the Earth? Part of it is the pressure of gravity pushing down. The energy comes from the mass itself. As long as there’s gravity, there’s energy in the system.

  8. Totally normal Human says:

At this point I’m waiting for the MineCraft team to either confirm or debunk all of MatPats theories

  9. The lovely Iron golem says:

fun fact : soul sand slows you down because of the souls trying to get in with them

    When game theory starts the
    episode by mentioning The Netherlands.
