Welcome back to Minecraft Theory, where we do deep dives into anything and everything Minecraft! Honestly Theorists, there is SO MUCH to explore in this game. In my search for theory fodder on Creepers, Endermen, and all other manner of creatures, one thing stood out. The Illagers. You know, the exiled magic folk who seem to be up to some rather… interesting experiments. What are they doing and how might it change Minecraft FOREVER if they succeed in their plot? Let’s find out!

Matpat : “to try and recreate Steve”

    Show the illagers making herobrine

    • kid rulez says:

I mean herobrine would be the end result if they succeeded right? I don’t know if herobrine actually has lore, and I know he’s not actually in the game, but it would be a pretty awesome addition if he were (and if this theory is true there would be a reason for him)

    • Johnny rednblack says:

@kid rulez ya i mean herobrine is shown everywhere on the internet to be this powerful demonoid and they seem like they have the resources to make such a being.

    • I-/ /-B says:

@kid rulez Herobrine fanbase is pure cancer and actually adding him would make them go “we were right all along, Herobrine was real”.

But yeah “Herobrine” (evil Steve) would be the end resoult just without all of those god powers that every fanfiction gives him and to be fair Herobrine would actually be pretty cool if bunch of kids could accept the fact that he’s just a silly creepypasta turned easter egg.

However if you think about it Steve is alredy a god in Minecraft looking at all the stuff a player can do.

    • Benjamin Chapman says:

@I-/ /-B true, being able to respawn after death is something more powerful than a totem of undying, which just prevents death once before breaking.

  2. poiu09 says:

    Side theory:
The idea of Herobrine came before Illagers. The Minecraft team probably wanted to include him at some point, but they didn’t know how. But now Illagers are in the game. And so the “recreation of Steve” that the video talks about will likely be Herobrine. So… maybe he’ll be added? Don’t know.

    • endless013 says:

Herobrine was already added years ago by accident and they’ve been trying to get him out ever since. If you can find old patch notes You can see even back in the area of 1.2.0 (when I started playing) and find a note for either “Removing Herobrine” or “Removed Herobrine”

    • Stardust crusader. says:

      @Spooky Filmz Ent.

      Why ?

    • Yodo Pro says:

They’ll probably never really add him, in the same way as that they are unlikely to confirm or deny theories like this or officially state something as lore.

    • Game Legend says:

herobrine is not real he was a joke when in the patch it said removed herobrine it was a joke stop thinking he is real he is nowere to be found in the game code and was never in the code he was just a creepy pasta

  3. LimyAsteroid _177 says:

maybe that’s why there’s abandoned villages, because they’re taking them for they’re “Unspeakable Activities”.

  4. Max chen says:

0:52 “please don’t panic buy sugar canes,”

*he he, I get that joke*

  5. Kreau says:

“Since I know you’re probably not at work or schhol”

Ha! Uncle Sam’s still got us coming in at the crack of dawn to do what we do, but it’s nice to be able to unwind with another theory vid. Thanks Matt!

  6. Butterfly Wings says:

This will almost definitely be lost but in addition to this theory, in the snow biomes, igloos can occasionally spawn with an underground lab. Inside there are two cages, one with a villager in it and one with a zombie villager. There is also a sign with arrows pointing both ways, obviously alluding to the fact that you can transform a zombie villager back into a normal villager and vice versa. These snow biomes are always separated from the rest of society. My theory is that after the creation of the zombies by the Illagers, several villagers decided to attempt to find ways to save those who had turned into zombies. It was their attempt at correcting the wrongdoings of the Illagers. Just a theory.

    • Ideas Are Useless says:

      Well in addition to that:
We know snow golems attack any mob, as long as its hostile.
So what if they were made to protect the villagers and villages?
The villagers picked up on what the Pillagers were doing, so they took it in there hands and used it for good. Making snow golems to protect the village from them.
Though they found this idea useless later on, because they do no damage. So they might of taken them apart and tried to build something stronger. Aka, iron golems, which do more damage but don’t attack all the mobs.
The villagers don’t have much access to iron to build them though, so they only ever make one. This comes into the fact there is almost always iron ingots in the blacksmith chest, they were saving up to build more.

I have no idea what I was doing, i just thought of this and sorry if it’s a bad theory

    • Daniel Cuevas says:

    • noahmanc2 says:

This is honestly a better point than most in the video

    • Alexander Canul says:

Personally i think the lab in the igloo was build by an ancient builders, because of the aesthetic of the dungeon/ chamber ( the villagers never use stone bricks, and part of the ruins left by the builders [underwater ruins, Strongholds] are built in part by stone bricks). Because the villagers use materials easy to obtain, and stone bricks can be considered a more expensive block without silk touch enchantment

  7. The Abundance Of Comment says:

    Look up “Evoke” and “Vex”
This make me feel that the Evoker’s power is being able to mess with someone’s feeling “unnaturally”. So maybe this Theory could have gone in a different way.

    • Tokat Storm says:

That could make sense. We know there are some mobs that exist exclusively in Steve’s mind. The Phantoms only exist when Steve has gone a long time without sleep.

Maybe focus on the dreams of Steve for a theory. Since the End also has a big sleep connection.

    • Paperklip says:

@Tokat Storm I think the illusioner made phantoms, because they are “illusions”. I also have a theory that Villager children are slaughtered, mixed into soul sand and become totems of undying, therefore their soul replaces as yours when you die.

    • TheWitch KingofWolfs. says:

@Tokat Storm but phantoms can attack other players who have slept meaning that they are real they just first attack the sleep deprived.

    • jake 64 says:

Spooky Filmz Ent. shut up oh my god

  8. Licinius Varrus says:

illagers also decide to “break” their unibrows as a symbol of breaking away from villager traditions and culture, haha

    • Matilda G16 says:

Omg I had that thought too lol

    • Daniel Heidenreich says:

I keep telling matpat its the illagers who went yo the nether and created the wither, but no one seems to take that idea into consideration, think about it, why aren’t they trying to build things like golems or snow men in there own mansions?

I mean if mojang included a recipe to create mobs through wool and include in complete version of those things in the mansions (next to spawners), that would only prove my point that anyone could do it, its just humans that humans did it faster.

    • I-/ /-B says:

@Daniel Heidenreich The problem is: most structures in Minecraft seem to be much older than Villages and Mansions not to mention ancient scraps in the Nether that are also far older.

  13. Prateek Topinkatti says:

The illagers lost their unibrow when they tried injecting themselves with Lapis. They first created the model, hence it had the monobrow, but failed when they actually tried it. Thus leaving a gap in their brow. 🧐🤔

  14. William AftonYT says:

There’s new Minecraft books that came out and the newest one is called “The End” and it takes place with 2 ENDERMEN as the protagonists! Maybe the Endermen, just like you said, really were people at some point! Just something to talk about…

also matpat: But hey . that’s just atheory . A GAME THEORY !!!!!!!!!!1!

  16. not an axolotl says:

I’ve got a theory, matpat has a mojang employee trapped in his basement so he can get all this info

  17. Gacha Puppy says:

    My mini theory is this.

The illagers sometimes come to out of the Outpost like if they were looking for something, maybe a village for more villager’s. However they might take a wrong turn and encounter the player. So what if they were looking for more villager’s to take but encounter us instead.

  18. DraCommics • says:

Interestingly enough Steve with help from the “outside” can play god! There trying to harness the creative mode power exclusive to Steve!
