Glass Explosion at 343,000FPS! – The Slow Mo Guys

Glass Explosion at 343,000FPS! – The Slow Mo Guys

Gav and Dan film their slowest video yet. It’s so slow, it’s almost like looking at an entirely different plane of existence. DO NOT TRY AT HOME.

And I thought it couldn’t get faster than that cd shatter. Imagine: one day
we can see those 350,000 frames per second in 4K HD.

Amazing, great work, loved the comparison at the end.

I love this channel for two reasons. The beautiful slow motion (obvious),
but it also a great way to learn some new things. Thank you guys for all of
    your hard work.

I wonder what light would look like, if you could actually film fast enough
to show, like, a sunbeam, in slow motion.
Or, slow enough to see, like, a “Diskworld Ramtops” sunrise, where you can
actually see the light “flow” out into the world, from the rising sun?

A rough calculation tells me the glass shatter propagates at about 1,800
meters per second. That’s 3-4 times faster than bullets fly from a gun.
    Pretty crazy huh?

I’m guessing that the length of the glass handle is about 3 inches. Then
you divide that by the time between 932.55us and 975.93us and get that
number. It’d be very cool if you guys take some measurements and come up
with a real number. I loved the comparison between the eye-blink and the
glass shatter! Way to make people understand the concept!

    7:24 that’s what she said~~~….

  7. Pedro Carrasco says:

The handle cracked like that in the first shoot because you were holding it
from it and all the stresses or pressures were concentrated in there. Then
like a rubber band, it is going to break from there. Cheers!

Why can you increase the fps only when the resolution is decreased?

    Borosilicate glass

I feel that’s the glass type being used – a check
of Pyrex spoken here is a company manufacturing said galss.

Is it the stop button you are pushing on the camera as soon as the event
    has happened

  14. MR. POOFLESS says:

You should do the same thing only video the tarp so we can see what happens

    FK cool (and hot)

  16. scythelord says:

It’s not really true that they are “crapper” in the US. They make
borosilicate glass still for the US market, but they use soda-lime (normal
    glass) for the cheap shit.

    you should
