This was… weird. I get they’re doing a different timeline but I would have much preferred a retelling of the trilogy. Shame we’ll most likely never get that now. And is there really a human antagonist? Getting Death Note live action vibes.

Omg you are all hating and I bet you don’t even play the games nor support the franchise , stop hating , don’t watch it. This is great for real halo fans even if it’s not lore accurate.

    • darkninja105 says:

@Xentrolis or some rouge alien Ai

    • Xentrolis says:

The antagonist *appears* human. Could be an android or something. It’s able to control the Flood.

    • darkninja105 says:

I’m getting the bad feeling that they’re going to mess this up just like StarTrek Discovery. It’ll have a really cool Halo skin over a sci-fi action show but won’t have the soul of halo. I’m still hyped but I’ll be slightly skeptical.

    • Spirited Today says:

      Nah

  2. Edward Lewis says:

Having a human antagonist is going to be easier for them to flesh out the run-time of the show with drama, but it will gut the heart of the story which is that all humanity bonded together to beat an unbeatable foe and Chief is the pinnacle of that effort.

    • Tounushi says:

@Alva The Wayfarer Who knows, it might be an ancient human from the Human-Forerunner war.

@Paladin Rose How to be negative about anything, can you teach me?

    • pete bagwell says:

      Master chief go boom boom

    • FacepalmDaily says:

@Sujamma_Enjoyer My wife is a producer. That’s exactly what I am telling you. If you think budget doesn’t come in to play in every aspect of film making, including the script writing process, you are delusional.

They don’t go into production on something with a blank check. That’s not how it works.

    • Four Leaf Productions says:

They could have easily had a forerunner antagonist aswell and since its a different timeline forerunners could just be ancient humans

  3. Bacode says:

I’m gonna remain skeptical but at the same time, I’m super excited and getting nostalgic chills from watching this after waiting over a decade for this to become a thing… hope they don’t butcher the story arcs and the universe when the episodes start streaming otherwise the backlash from us hardcore fans will be unreal

  4. SnowDawg says:

I wanted a halo show/movie that mimic the gritty war like the live commercials. But I’m glad we’re finally getting more from halo.

  5. Stroyer says:

Really looking forward to finally seeing the
live action series. But I’m sure the Halo fanatics we’re expecting a full accurate retelling of the franchise. After nearly 20 years of waiting, we are due for it

    • ShädMo1st says:

I’d rather have a trilogy of movies for CE, 2 and 3 and a spin-off for ODST rather than a stream series of them.

  6. RedTeamReview says:

343i already said this isn’t considered part of the main Halo canon but it’s own “silver” timeline/canon. Kind of like the Kelvin timeline with J.J. Abram’s Star Trek. Looks a little…fan made in some places but I’ll give it a shot

    • Natti Dread says:

@A_waff1es_0pinion have you even played any of halos 1-reach? the entire point of the human covenant war is that the existence of humanity Flys in the face of everything the covenant stood for, the covenant is held together by the belief that they are the heirs to the forerunner legacy and that they will “ascend” as the forerunners did yet the covenant leadership found that the forerunners referred to humanity as the reclaimed, the true heirs so the covenant leadership chose to lie and wipe out humanity rather than reveal the truth that they had been wrong and leading the covenant and the galaxy towards extinction the whole time

    • Amistrophy says:

@Eric Rafael Medina the covenant exterminated all humans, no matter their loyalty. It undermines the spirit of the franchise to change that

    • Blaniac says:

      No Steve Downes, no show.

    • ryan wolfe says:

@Jigawatt 1.21 This right here! Full agreement!

    • Sujamma_Enjoyer says:

@A_waff1es_0pinion If you where an actual halo fan you would know that the prophets would never have a human in the covenant as it would expose the lie of the great journey as humans can access forerunner installations

  7. Hunter Godfrey says:

Not gonna lie they had me in the first half, then as soon as I saw the Human girl in the Covenants city of High Charity I felt conflicted. It’ll be a good introduction to the franchise for those who’ve not played all the games but to the die hard fans it’ll be similar to the Witcher. As in it’ll be a fun watch but not without flaws

    • Joshua Balzer says:

I could very well be wrong, but isn’t the whole reason the covenant is exterminating humans because we aren’t worthy of the forerunner mantle? So having a human in the covenant would defeat the entire purpose of the war in the first place?

    • ronuss says:

im a die hard halo fan, but i dont see an issue tbh, maybe the way im looking at it is different? its not canon, so wotever they do doesn’t effect the canon i love , games book, comics ext. So just go nuts is my view, if it works cool, if it dont then doesnt effect new halo games or books at all. as apose to if it were all canon and would have the chance to ruin the canon on all fronts.

  8. Fatima Piña says:

Not convinced about Cortana, and I hope they don’t spend too much of the focus on the new side character instead of Master Chief, but I look forward to giving it a try.

  9. N. Eütered Waffle says:

Definitely a bit different than expected, yet pretty promising, I for one am looking forward to see how this adaptation is gonna unfold 😊 However… one thing I just simply can’t wrap my head around is the Cortana non-hologram-blu/-purple skin treatment, I mean come on Paramount this is Sonic all over again… Guess production gotta go fast 🤣

  10. Ben Wamberg says:

Can’t say I’m stoked on the story beats, but the look and feel are largely solid and I look forward to seeing it
Actors all look cool in their respective roles. Pablo Schreiber’s Cheif and Jen Taylor reprising her role as Cortana bring a lot of hope/excitement.

Story-wise, the element that concerns me the most is starting Chief in a place where apparently, he’s not really, effectively, the Master Chief. Not a symbol of hope but instead one of cold, military procedure, where even among the UNSC, the Spartan program, rather than already being solidly depended on by the time the Covenant shows up, is distrusted. That bit feels like it could potentially be really lame. I can understand starting there, from a writing perspective – potentially because of my bias due to affection for the series (books and games)

Perhaps though, the crew he was talking to (including the young lady he rescues who comments her surprise that Chief bothered to help her) is actually part of a colony that broke off from the IC and therefore, expected to be treated as rebels.

    • Superchromatic says:

I don’t want to see hollywood trot out tired plot ideas except dressed up with halo trinkets. It’s so boring.
