London has always have the best new yearโ€™s fireworks. Beats the glorified bowling ball we drop every year in America. 2024, I wanna be there! Happy 2023 from Indianapolis, IN, USA.

I read the comments about Sydney’s fireworks being better than London’s so I went over and watched them. I guess we are all biased towards our own country’s efforts ๐Ÿ˜‰. The music was dull, the setting is lovely but I don’t think it is better than London’s, they didn’t make use of lasers and lighting as well as London and there was no theme or message.

I think we will have to agree to disagree my proud Aussie friends. Happy New Year to everyone.

@Cindy Headon I’ve been to Sydney and watched the Fireworks from a yacht in the harbour. The fireworks are better in London in my opinion. The music, choreography and intensity beats Australia every year. Sydney fireworks are spread out on barges along the river and don’t have impact of the London Eye.

I think watching the televised version is better Renee because you get all the camera vanatge points that you’d miss if you were actually there and you miss out on all the noxious fumes and noise produced by the fireworks.

I was over there for new years in the late 90s and was very underwhelmed by the festivities — it looks like they’ve gotten a lot better since!!

@Gogglebox 2 You’re not wrong about that. Although London is the center of the shows, Edinburgh will always be the center of celebration.

    • Gogglebox 2 says:

If you were in London.. wrong place. Edinburgh was the focus of Hogmany and New Year. But its not about the big, flashy fireworks show. Its about the love between strangers going forward into a New and hopefully Happy Year. The hugs, the singing and dancing together. The Hospitality. And, back in 1990s the First Footing and old Traditions, now almost fully replaced by American driven traditions. And, like Halloween/All Hallows Eve, being turned into a “Trick or Treat” not “Guising”, a merging into “Social Media Christmas and New Year”. Happy New Year.

Sydney and London takes the cake. Sydney is vibrant and lively and London is somewhat emotional looking back to what happened in 2022 and more on moving forward plans for the country. Love it.
