Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.
Summit Entertainment presents, Millennium Films presents, a Lawrence Gordon/Lloyd Levin production, in association with Dark Horse Entertainment, a Nu Boyana production, in association with Campbell Grobman Films.
I just threw up a little in my mouth…..don’t worry…I swallowed it back down.
Go read the source material then do it again if you dislike this tone mate.
+Matthew North The tone aside……it’s Hellboy’s make up job that pales in comparison to Pearlman’s.
Where is Abe?
+La Biblio Geek Wth is the point then?
The reboot focus on Hellboy, not BPRD that’s probably why. I’m a bit disappointed because Abe is awesome, but tbh I’m just happy to get the chance to watch another Hellboy movie 🙂 Don’t get me wrong Ron Perlman can’t be replaced, but I don’t know…I’ll give it a chance anyway.
+La Biblio Geek yeah me too.
Pause at 1:43 looks like Abe standing there
SYG7 I think that’s hellboy’s trech coat…
I love that they using actual storylines and whatnot from the comics but that’s as far as the appeal goes. I have no doubt most of those monster action scenes are going to be memories and flashbacks since that incident with the bat in the wrestling ring happened in the 50’s. Wild Hunt in broad daylight is just weird.
This weirdly goofy Hellboy just doesn’t mesh. Professor Bruttenholm does not at all give off the father figure vibe at all.
and it’s LEGO! NOT LEGOS!
Mokko unless you have more than one, then it’s Legos.
It’s just the first trailer buddy chill out
Nit pick much?
Why does it have to be packed with dumb jokes. The comics were so dark and gothic, I’m gonna see it but I’m not going to be happy about it
0:29 – is CLEARLY added in post-prod, or maybe just for the trailer… His mouth isn’t even moving and the voice is way off for some reason
Also the jokes crammed in the trailer are horrible, not sure if its the jokes themselves or the delivery, though I *love* David Harbour
As for the rest of the trailer, I thought they kept saying it’d be more serious and more horror-like than Action/Comedy-like?
As a first trailer, I’m definitely and sadly not interested at all…
*_I truly hope this first trailer is not representative of the final movie_* because it looks very bland and unoriginal.
+tsohgallik Shazam is and always has been light hearted and goofy/childlike. Its been part of his character for decades
Hopefully the humour wont get irritating because aside from that, this film shows promise
+Wheeler67 Looks abysmal.
The thing is that this is how the comics were. Super dark with crappy humor. That’s what makes it funny. They’re aware that they’re doing crappy comedy. I think it looks great. I’ve also missed Hellboy a ton though lol
Wyatt James crappy? You mean campy right?
Now… I seriously wish they could have Pearlman and Toro make the third film.
Don’t forget that trailers are often made by completely separate companies. the movie may very well be the gory action horror/comedy film we were promised, but marketing is messing it up. it is worrying, but it happens. don’t forget the first trailer for Star Trek Beyond made it look like an unfunny ripoff of Guardians of the Galaxy. and that ended up being one of the best of the modern Star Trek films. Also I recently started reading the original Hellboy comics and I can tell you, the comedy is nothing new. it’s always been funny.
I think we should give it a chance
+lewis bean the amount of prosthetic? What, like the first 2?
Idk, I remember seeing some articles somewhere a while back about how they did early test screenings of the new Hellboy, and apparently nobody liked it. So, I’m guessing it’s pretty bad.
Reminds me of deadpool
Just a reminder than the creator of Hellboy was given a much bigger role in the development of this film than the original two so it will be more comics accurate.
I just wanna add this was written by the creator of Hellboy, and in the comics it’s dark and edgy with a lot of weird humor thrown in. I think the actual movie is gonna be good but the trailer had a hard time balancing the dark and funny parts
so what?
J.K.Rowling wrote Crimes of Grindelwald
+MokiNS its just to deter the ultra fanboys that say oh if the writer from the source material wrote it, the movie would have been better
MokiNS Mike Mignola didn’t write a few books then start retroactively changing all of his canon out of nowhere. He’s still writing comics and stories to this day, and they’re all good. Even his worst work is good.
XD
Sometimes that makes a great way of hiding the darkest part of the movie. The Cabin in the Woods was a great example. It was meant to be very serious horror but it was pure genius. This movie is gonna be seen as silly at first but we know The Blood Queen is dark as fuck
David Harbour went from Stranger things to “Smash Things”
philip_statho Yup, and here’s how he got the role https://youtu.be/WhEIz9SzrPk
Hellboy is the best movie ever since the new trailer comes out
Ron Perlman is sitting somewhere looking real salty!
Satanic Lives Matter haha
Yeah no, he joked a fuck load on those films what is with this revisionist history. Hellboy had always had a sense of humour.
Okay, not what I was expecting. It’s true that the comics may look dark in art style, but Mignola’s sense of humor always came through the dialogue and storytelling. This looks like a version of Hellboy who is actually kind of a snarky teenager, which he is supposed to be, in the timeline of his long lifespan. I’m willing to give Harbour’s HB a chance. (Weirdly, though, the practical makeup kinda fall apart when he starts talking…)
The Hellboy make up effects look awful, can’t even see the actors expression probably and if you compare it to the make up effects used on Ron Perlman they look far superior
Weird tone and not that appealing to look at, but it could be fun. First impressions? I’m not feeling too excited about this.
CGI looks terrible
The CGI looks pretty good tbh. The practical stuff, on the other hand…
The saddest part is that Guillermo del Toro’s movies are from 2004, I mean, 14 years ago the quality was off the charts, in comparison with… this, I don’t know how to call it.
+Camel Boy lol fucking fanboy, it looks like the typical cgi shit. With that being said I am going to watch the movie, maybe the story is good who knows.
Shut up, fanboy.
Exactly.. I’m looking at this like “did they have a low budget”…
This is more comics accurate. The comic creator had a much bigger role in everything & the humor of the comics is more accurate than the other films, as great as they are. Maybe do your research before condemning a film. This reboot like fantastic.
+bsmi1361 They probably did. This film is creative risk, especially since unlike the original movies the creator of Hellboy was given a major role in the films development, which means it automatically breaks away from traditional, safe scripts.
It looks like this movie is going to be like the new movie from the predator. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
New predator movie wasn’t that bad, the goofiness didn’t really blend in comparison with the older movies but the gore was there and some lore.
+Marky Mark the predator or should I say predator 4 fucked with the lore, they completely changed the predators motivation from being a badass hunter who fights for honour and sport to being some kind of DNA collector that kidnaps kids with autism, and the ending was just a cheap way for them to get a sequel, which I hope will never happen
I loved the previous Hellboy, and now I’m ready for the new Hellboy! This looks great, make us proud David Harbour! ?
1:11 Attack On Titans ?
Let’s get this out of the way: Ron Perlman and Guillermo Del Toro humanized Hellboy in a way that can’t be replaced by any other director/actor combo. That said, I’m eagerly awaiting the reviews for this film.
Give it a chance smh
I feel like he’s trying to act like perlman’s Hellboy.
Why does it feel like the Predator 2018 trailer and that gonna suck like it?
