Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reunite for the highly anticipated Disney+ Original Movie “Hocus Pocus 2.” The live-action, long awaited sequel to the perennial Halloween classic, which brings back the delightfully wicked Sanderson sisters for more comedic mayhem, will debut on Disney+ on September 30.
It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve. “Hocus Pocus 2” also stars Doug Jones (“The Shape of Water”), Whitney Peak (“Gossip Girl”), Lilia Buckingham (“Dirt”), Belisa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories”), Hannah Waddingham (“Ted Lasso”), Tony Hale (“Veep”), Sam Richardson (“The Tomorrow War,” “Good Boys”), Juju Brener (“Vanquish”), Froy Gutierrez (“Teen Wolf”), Taylor Paige Henderson and Nina Kitchen. The film is directed by Anne Fletcher (“Dumplin,’” “The Proposal”), written by Jen D’Angelo (“Happy Together,” “Workaholics”) and produced by Lynn Harris (“King Richard,” “The Shallows”), with Adam Shankman (“Disenchanted,” “Hairspray”), Ralph Winter (“Hocus Pocus,” “X-Men” franchise) and David Kirschner (“Hocus Pocus,” “Chucky”) serving as executive producers.
So long we’ve waited for this movie to become reality and this trailer is just perfect! Love how they’ve kept similarities to the original. Wonderful, roll on 30th Sept!
I just hope “similarities” don’t become redundancies. After all this time, I’d hate to see a rehash.
I love the original movie!!! And seeing them back, brings a sense of joy to me. Can’t wait to see the sequel this Halloween!!!!

@Goleon i’m quite surprised tht SJP is in it too.. i mean, with SATC, she’s a bigger star since 93 although the franchise do hv its ups n downs..

Not surprised with Bette Milder as she’s admitted that Winnifred is her favorite role she’s done.
I can’t wait for this. It’s captured the first movie very well so far and I think we will see a lot more action and witches! You can even see the Sanderson sisters as teenagers in the start!
Hocus Pocus is such a classic from my childhood, and sequels to iconic movies have been known to be disastrous, but this looks so promising! I was hoping the skyscapes would have more of an ethereal ’90s matte painting aesthetic like the original, and that the digital special effects wouldn’t be too heavyhanded, but overall the vibe is so much in step with the original and Bette, Kathy and SJP have still very much got it! That part where the guy asks “can’t we talk about this?” and Winnie says, “no” all giddy-like had me laughing out loud 🤣! It was like it came right from the first movie. After all these years of thinking we’d never see the Sanderson Sisters back in action, I can’t wait for September 30th! 🧹 🌑 🐈⬛ 🕯️⚡ 🧟 🎃
@DJ – Conor Kieran I agree about Hannah’s character. I was expecting her to be the sisters’ mother, and it doesn’t seem like she is. Her costume is odd and out of place, true, but the colors remind me of Dani’s witch costume from the first movie, which may or may not be intentional.

Agreed lol I did the same I was like yup. there’s Winnie! they.ve went very comical it seems, but this actually looks unreal. I think my only biggest disappointment is Hannah’s Character. Sorry but so many other ways she could have played the devil, not the enchantress who looks like shes from a different movie/era. only criticism. won’t let it ruin my excitement for it. effects look great. I ACC cant wait.

The new generation will not understand what we have grown in the ’90s with the original. I have a feeling of nostalgia, sadness and happiness. Growing up with the original film was something magical. And being able to see the Sanderson sisters almost 30 years later is just as magical. Thank you for giving us fans this opportunity.

This looks so much better than i expected. I didnt think they would be able to capture that classic halloween type tone but this trailer honestly gives me that vibe.

its better than expected in terms of the look and visual effects definitely look good. But can they match the cheesy fun and heart of the original ? A classic is always hard to match.
I loved hocus pocus as a child. Still one of my favorite Halloween movies. I just wish they picked better lead actresses. Plus some of the shots look very mediocre. The sisters are the only reason I will be watching.
