Colleen your honesty and openness is probably what kept my baby safe! That sounds strange, but I had been experiencing severe itching all over my body (painful, keep you up at night itching) and whenever I talked to a nurse about it, they all just said to take Benadryl and wait it out. I had already been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and figured that I was just getting the worst pregnancy ever, so I didn’t fight them too hard on it. Eventually I remembered that with your first pregnancy you had cholestasis and had experienced similar symptoms so I thought to ask for a blood test just to rule it out, and it turns out that I had it! I had to be induced at 37 weeks to keep my baby safe, but truthfully I don’t know that I would have received that diagnosis without you having told your full story, since it’s really something most people don’t even know exists. Thank you for the good that you are and that you do!

This is so amazing! I’m so glad you remembered and advocated for yourself and that your baby is healthy! 💗💗💗

    • Kenzie Renee' says:

This was the same for my sister! She was pre-eclampsic but she mentioned to me that she was having the itching like what Colleen said as well. I told her it sounded like cholestasis and suggested she talk to her doctor. She had a few people tell her it was due to her pre-eclampsia, qnd I encouraged her not to relent on it until they tested to rule it out. She ended up having it, and they induced her at around 37 weeks as well!

I hope Colleen sees this ❤️ So glad you and your baby are safe

    • Eliza T says:

Amazing. If it’s so dangerous they should test just to rule it out it’s awful how you always have to advocate for yourself. It’s very scary for those who aren’t aware of this stuff

    • Rebecca says:

I’ve seen another person say a similar thing in the comments as well. It’s amazing how much we can help each other just by sharing what we’re going through. I cannot imagine how much this warms Colleens heart.

Colleen is like, “I’m going to try to not cry through this entire vlog” meanwhile I’m over here sobbing 🙃 Two time c section mama over here so I feel you on that. C sections are major surgery so take it as easy as you can. Thank you for sharing your family with us ❤️

My daughter was born 17 years ago and I still cry when talking about leaving the hospital without her because she had to stay in the NICU. Until you experience that emmotion you have no idea how it feels. You are so strong and have so much love and support all around you. Give yourself all the permission you need to get through this time because it is hard. Sending so much love and everyone here will hold the space for you that you need.

  7. Elizabeth Marie says:

    Hey strong mama,
I’ve only ever exclusively pumped for my little boy, and girl it’s hard! I lived in 3-hour intervals, just making it through one pumping session to the next. But my baby did SO much better for it. Feeling chained to a pump on a demanding schedule is kinda just the worst, but please find some peace knowing that you’re fighting the good fight and still providing so much goodness for your littles. Also postpartum (depression) is NO joke, especially in your situation. I didn’t believe anyone who told me to take care of myself, but TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! You have an amazing support system to help you and your babies (all 3!) and Eric all get through these hard times. You. Are. Not. Alone. Sending my love and empathetic tears.

  8. Kristin Howell says:

“We’ll talk about your depression later” killed me, hahah! You are so strong, and believe me, even the people who haven’t gone through birth and parenthood are NOT judging you, I cannot imagine how it must feel to go through this. I’ve loved going through both of your pregnancies with you through this channel, even though I never plan on being a mother myself. Do what’s right for you, and we will be here rooting for you!

Your spinal went a little high. I’m so sorry that happened to you. Mine went total and did numb my whole body head to toe and I absolutely remember the panic and fear of not being able to breath. Luckily they caught mine quick when my o2 dropped and I was intubated and emergency GA. I’m so happy yours didn’t go any higher, it is traumatic and you process it however you need to.

  10. Adina F. says:

I’m not a mom and I totally don’t think you’re nuts at all for crying so much. This has all been such an unbelievable whirlwind. I have to say though, it was so lovely to see Flynn bouncing around and being his joyful self at the end. I feel like he knows that his mom isn’t always happy but he never holds a grudge or any resentment. He’s just so happy to be around everyone as they are.
