    What about basmati rice ?

I literally bought a rice cooker and still experimenting

First few attempts the bottom was hard crust

Now it’s just slightly over done

I use 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of water last attempt

  9. Onionsan says:

We asians dont put too much emphasis on ratios… We just cook rice by measuring the height of the water using our fingers like ruler …

Dont be scared even if you accidentally put a bit more water you can still eat the rice just the same.. Some people like their rice a bit mushy.. Its true.. To each their own anyway..

Perfect rice varies from people to people.. I guess you just have to keep cooking it over and over everyday and figure out how you like your rice done .. hehe

As a Persian I recommend you to add one table spoon batter for one cup of rice when it begins to simmer. The result is more fluffy and flavorful rice.

Sorry, we can’t make sushi with just “short grain rice”. There’re many different types. We have to use Japonica rice(maybe it’s called “sushi rice”). Especially brown rice.

  13. Topazgirl9 says:

I notice there are a lotta comments from others on how this rice is too mushy. I’m content with how me and my family cook our rice but it is very possible that using this method you would have a great rice for making congee, a southeastern asian rice soup.

Also, oil in rice? I’ve never heard of that, and it seems a little strange to cook rice in oil XP

  14. Bobby Priambodo says:

Or just simply buy personal rice cooker, for 1-2 cups, like us in Indonesia does. Then follow the rice cooker instructions or the instructions on the rice package. Works every time.
