The thing is that this is a “cheap” knife so for its price it’s insanely good quality
Most of you missed the point of the knife. Babishs whole line up is meant as an introduction to cook ware. It’s priced low so people can use cookware that’s not total garbage off Amazon for similar prices. Will the knives be as sharp as it is out of the box, six month down the line? Probably not. But, by then, if you cook on a daily bases, you’ll learn what better fits your method. Or, if you don’t cook as often, they may the only knives you need for sometime.
any knife can be good as long as you have a good edge and maintain it
@Noa Dbs I mean yes and no. Some people sharpen their knives often so it didn’t need to hold an edge that long. Sharpening a very hard steel can be annoying.

Have you ever actually used a knife for more than 5 minutes at a time?
@Lines it is not that great of a knife, but it’s meh especially considering the price. I feel like it’s unfair to compare it to 100, 200, or even 300+ dollar knives. With that being said I think old hickory knives are the best ones if you are on a budget.
Seeing you cut that ice into a diamond that easily was so satisfying. $20 for that knife is a steal

It’s a good knife by all accounts I just think the longevity of the knife is what you’re sacrificing at that price point.

Babish is all round a great guy and the fact that he can deliver this kind of polish and quality, from branding to sharpness of the blade and that for only 20 dollars? Amazing.
Guarantee you he’s probably just selling them to break even, or maybe even running a loss. Dude is hella generous, seems like something he’d do to get people some good knives
By the way, cutting ice is probably one of the more edge-abusing tasks in the kitchen. Keep a keen eye on the edge, it might dull much faster if you do it often.
What I want to know is how well will it hold its edge over time. There’s plenty of knifes out there for 20 dollars that are really sharp day one. The quality of a good knife is how it holds up before you have to sharpen it and how easy it will take a new edge.
