  1. Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell says:

This video will probably not make everybody happy. Probably for completely opposite reasons. Some people want less political and economic integration, some want more of it. Some want to stop immigration, others want better integration instead. Some want an EU army, others want to disband Nato. And most will have a collection of different opinions about all of that. It’s the same for our team, we don’t all share the same vision for Europe and the world.
We tried our best to present different sides and view points, while being fair and as neutral as possible. But obviously we can’t go into too much detail in a video that is only 7 minutes long. We also clearly marked where we are stating our opinion. The sources we used are in the video description.

The last year has taught us that we have to try our best to get everybody back to the table again and stop screaming at each other. We all could have done a better job at this in the past, Kurzgesagt too. Everybody comes from a different place and has different ideas of where the world should go and how to tackle our problems. And as long as we are trying to base our opinions on facts then that is completely fine. In the end we all have to share this planet with each other.

I wish this video existed when we voted to leave the EU. Completely stupid decision imo

  4. relix7373 says:

    How to fix immigrant crisis:
    1. Force the Saudis, Turks and every other lazy Muslim neighbor to take refugees.
    2. There are no other steps.

  5. Questing Fantasy says:

I don’t think the video makes valid arguments. “The EU makes armies cheaper” “increases jobs and trade” “makes us secure” “gives stability”. How? These are empty platitudes that don’t mean anything. How does having one EU army make it better for the nations that comprise it? Do tanks come out of nothing when you suddenly join forces? In fact it only ensures that some countries will pay more than they should probably without needing that army anyway. Let’s say that because of the ease of common markets you create jobs, but these are also just a net positive, and cause a lot of problems because people have to move, there can be local inflations of currencies, unemployment and brain drain between the countries. These are problems CREATED by the EU, not solved by it. Plus doesn’t the whole bureaucratic superstructure monster of the EU just cost a lot of money in paying all these people and through all these regulations? governing this thing is stupidly expensive and ridiculously ineffective. How does the EU offer stability when Europe was just fine before all this centralization and the EU destroyed everything. The EU made things more unstable than ever. All the neoliberal arguments about net positives and averages and numbers are false and we can argue all day long about them, reality doesn’t change with you selective quoting meaningless numbers.
You don’t need the EU for NATO and peace. Plus I don’t want a European identity. I am Greek, I want a Greek identity. European is not really an identity, just a description of geography. Identity is about culture, and there is no single European culture but many different ones that have little in common. And don’t get me started on sovereignty.
In short, the EU can collapse for all I care. Few people want a United States of Europe single country. No peoples ever voted for this shit. Every country that had a referendum about the Euro voted no. I’d rather each country have the responsibility to fix itself rather than sinking all together. This is not a hateful thing towards other European nations, let’s all cooperate but keep our borders and our policies in our hands as decentralized as possible.

  9. Dan says:

A funny thing is, after GB decided to leave EU, they said that they want to keep the benefits they had with EU. A little bit ironic, isnt it? 😀

  10. Zack W says:

Without uniting as one unit, individual countries have no pull globally. Even with 27 countries together their economy is smaller than the US and their population is only slightly more. If some countries feel like they don’t have a say or influence in the EU they would be shocked about how irrelevant their concerns would be outside of it. It is just like a labor union. Individually you have little pull but together you can control your fate. Not everything will go your way but overall things will improve.
