Fantastic, I can now like this album, thank you Mr Fantano.

  2. Brad Taste In Music says:

Will you do a redux review when the album is completed?

  3. Dolan Darker says:

Donda > MBDTF is canon now. I don’t like this reality

  4. Lucas Tomato says:

You can’t take 3 points off just because God is Kanye’s bestie and you’re not, Melon.

  5. Mike Craig says:

I’m expecting a redux review where this becomes a 9 after Kanye makes hella changes

Good analysis of the religious aspects, Melon. Either he’s just being Kanye and getting distracted, or he’s a genius: let’s be honest, faith is like that. Most of us go straight out of church and start getting caught up with worldly nonsense. Don’t think I’ve ever heard that struggle in religious music 🤷

    • R4W Siana says:

      Kanye’s a genius

    • Hayley Strachan says:

You should do a dive into Mike Knott/Michael Knott and Daniel Amos. They’ve both got some extremely clever albums exploring their personal faith journeys and the corresponding “flip” of world view. Mike Knott in particular really unpacks his personal struggles, doubts and addictions with an extremely perceptive, authentic delivery. Terry Scott Taylor from Daniel Amos is just an incredible wordsmith.

I’d recommend Wither Wing, Screaming Brittle Siren, and Strip Cycle to get into Mike Knott, and for Daniel Amos: Dig Here Said the Angel (probably one of my AOLT, just a fantastic record in all aspects), Songs of the Heart, and Kalhoun.

If you’re into that you may like Taylor’s novelty band The Swirling Eddies –> some cool tracks: I Had A Bad Experience With The CIA And Now I’m Gonna Show You My Feminine Side (yes that’s the official title), Mr Sharky, Hell Oh, Outdoor Elvis (a pretty hilarious depiction of conspiracy theorists), and of course Pyro Sets a Wildfire.

    • S The Activist says:

Check out mixed messages by Big KRIT, it delves into that topic nicely

    • Hayley Strachan says:

Oh and Mike Knott also goes as Aunt Bettys, L.S.Underground, LSU, and Life Savers. Just to clear things up…

  7. NFKRZ says:

Jesus Lord best track on the album by far

  8. GODNAT says:

Finally, I can officially justify my enjoyment of this album

  9. Lucas T says:

Can’t believe melon liked it so much he somehow already has the vinyl on his shelf.

  10. Matt says:

    Jay-Z: “Made in God’s image. That’s a Selfie”

Fantano: “He has some great wordplay”

    • Phil Lacroix says:

I was joking with my buddy that Jay-Z sounds like someone with dementia who forgot he was ever an artist

    • Matt says:

@Phil Lacroix I was describing his feature to my friend and forgot how it went but, described it was something like “Sneezed in church. God blessed me” and it honestly felt accurate
