You might remove America from the British Empire, but you’ll never remove
the British Empire from America. It’s just that they are in a slight delay.
While england lives in the 21st century now, socially the USA is on the
level of the Industrial revolution era Great britain. Worker exploitation,
discrimination based on wealth (and race), rich people controlling the
country, No universal healthcare, etc… It’s rather interesting.

I could not laugh at the funny parts. The situation is really sickening.
USA is fucked up.. How can this happen in a developed country? At least
this show brings some awareness to these subjects, I’m sure most Americans
don’t actually know how things are being done until they are the ones
    suffering in person.

I agree with this, but Miguel shouldn’t have been driving without a license
in the first place though. I know there’s much more to it than just that
example, but in that particular case it could’ve been avoided…

John Oliver continues his legacy as an advocate against the ills of our
democracy. This piece on the US bail system, in addition to his pieces on
“Municipal Violations” and “Civil Asset Forfeiture”, are critically
important in raising awareness of mechanisms that enforce poverty and
oppression. It is a humbling use of his privilege as a comedian, and an
inspiration. This is “speaking truth to power”.
