There are very few government checks on what America’s sweeping surveillance programs are capable of doing. John Oliver sits down with Edward Snowden to discuss the NSA, the balance between privacy and security, and dick-pics.

John Oliver thank you for doing what you do, I legit have no way to get
news in my life without it being hard core biased on a political side
trying to sell me something like their vote. You kind of sell us
information with humanity in mind instead of a vote or money, seriously,
    thank you.

I just wish he added a hashtag campaign to this episode.

    Fuck MSNBC.

“I want our government to fight terrorism without intelligence of any kind
if it’s within our borders!” – USA

  5. Boryspitzanzx says:

this guy is a genius. his power of planning and interpreting ideas. mocking
how dumb the government is. and trying tell everybody to wake up in ways
    everybody can understand is great.

  6. slash1dot1dash says:

This was a brilliant way for John Oliver to help Snowden explain the
surveillance capabilities of the government – I understand so much better
    now! 😀

I guess snowdens only mistake was not taking classified data on justin
    beiber huh…

but even if they do officially end these programs, it will prolly continue
anyway under some double black agency with even less oversight. apparently
illegal search and seizure only applies to muskets and oxen… =/

  8. Stu Dunn says:

Pretty humbling how much John risked to actually do this.

  9. Minh Ng says:

Snowden again appeared on Russian national TV runs by Russia
Snowden : “Mr. Putin did you kill Boris Nemtsov?”
    Putin: “you know the answer!”
Snowden: “I just want the world to hear it from you Mr. Putin in front of
    Russian and my fellow Americans”
    Putin: “it was a self-defense!!!”

  10. TENDRIL77 says:

Genius take on this! Layman’s terms.

  11. Kerrigan M says:

What I like about Snowden is he owns up to his own stuff, he doesn’t
wishwash dodge the questions. Rare to hear that from a human being on
    television.

  12. Chris P. Bacon says:

John, I reallly really wish you were taking over the Daily Show. You are
the only person in my opinion who could actually fill Stewarts shoes.

  13. Balefire says:

I am South African and I think Mr. Snowden is a hero.

  14. Minh Ng says:

    Hero my ass:
Why Snowden is thinking of leaving? He would not dare to say it straight to
Putin in the face. He painted a beautiful life in Moscow! In Moscow his
emails are being read, his phone calls are listen, he not allow to observe
the opponent news, only the state run media propagandas in Russian!!!
hahahah he deserve to be in Moscow, call the free prison! hahahah, what a
looser!!!! at least Americans don’t have to pay for his prison cells and
    food allowances.
I can’t wait, one day, Snowden will be brought to US, striped down like a
dog, locked up for life in jail to keep his mouth shut. I can’t stand a
word out of his mouth. A worthless piece of shit!

  15. Evi1M4chine says:

*Spying on people just because they are foreign is not acceptable either
and WILL make you a mortal enemy of those countries you to it to!*
Yes, that means the US has made itself the enemy of pretty much the whole
damn world. So unless the US monsters plan on murdering 6.7 billion people…
(Yes, I know that most Americans masturbate to the thought of that in any
case, by calling it “patriotism” [aka nationalism]. I mean actually doing
    it.)

  16. Josh Wood says:

At first I though he was just trying to discredit Snowden, which seemed
pretty odd for this show. But I was impressed how he ended up doing the
opposite, and forcing people to pay attention. It was more a slap to the
ignorant citizens than it was to Snowden.

  17. Brendan Davison says:

    WHOA, SNOWDEN SHAVED!!!
    What was he like?

  18. Caveman712 says:

    genius!!

  19. Jenny Yasi says:

    We love you John Oliver!

  20. SolidCopy1 says:

Snowden is a hero and incredibly gracious to go along with all of this!
    hahaha
