Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: UK Labour Party (HBO)

The UK’s Labour Party has painted a campaign van pink in an attempt to attract women voters. We are glad they didn’t keep going with that strategy.

I keep hearing pink bastard… It’s actually pink buses.

  2. Kazikox says:

I swear if a colour of a car is that big of deal then you’ve don’t have
    enough problems.

  3. Rochyan says:

It’s not just that the van is pink. It’s the worst fucking shade of pink
i’ve seen in my entire life. Not only did you pick pink labour, you don’t
    even have good aesthetic sense.

  4. Marijuanifornia says:

A better joke would have been, “If women are so upset by the color pink
then why did they make their vaginas that color?”

And to all of the ladies who are rightfully offended by that joke, please
come to my house and take your sexy frustrations out on me all night long
    and again the next morning.

The kitchen table line is used by all politicians when talking about family
or being down to earth. Going to a place that everyone was for familiar
with and comfortable with until recent years. Now it’s some how a demeaning
term for women? Making it to where you can’t talk to women like you talk to
men is sexist not fighting for women’s rights.

  6. Kristian Niss says:

I think it’s silly to get upset that the bus is red/pink/magenta/whatever..
Is it okay for men to get upset if the bus is blue?

  7. Nonofya Bidnez says:

    PONY PONY PONY
how can you argue with this?

  8. Casey Smith says:

To be fair if you watch the Labour party conference from 2015 pretty much
    everything is pink.

  9. mcrazza says:

How could you NOT vote for Pony Pony Pony?

  10. MisdirectedSasha says:

Breaking news: Majority of women in UK deface their ballots, but Labour
    wins majority.

In unrelated news, record turnouts of unemployed men in their late 20s and
    early 30s were reported.

The hashtag #Labourbronies has beet trending on twitter.

Political scientists are baffled by this turn of events.

  11. lee raeside says:

Well Labour has won my vote.

  12. epicpolyphony says:

Is this actually a big deal? If a political group came out with a
camouflage colored van as part of their ad campaign towards men, I wouldn’t
be offended. I would just laugh at the ludicrous nature of it, not view it
as some sort of patronizing attack on my intellect as a man.

    Flag’s upside down.

  14. Alex Gibson says:

Had a weird feeling last night’s episode was a repeat, until I realized
that all of the intro pieces had been lifted off of Charlie Brooker’s
    Weekly Wipe.

  15. yazmac says:

Yes the bus is pink (the same shade as the branding on their One Nation
campaign) but Labour are out there actively campaigning about their
policies on woman’s health, domestic violence, childcare, equal pay and
women’s representation in the workforce. What other party can say the same?
As voters should we be thinking about the aesthetics of a campaign or the
message? This says to me that Labour care about the issues that face female
voters, the colour of the bus doesn’t come into question.

  16. mindlesstube says:

I think the problem is we refer the color pink to women when it should not
be, no color should be sexist towards male or female its a dam color, it
used to be a male color in the early 1900s.

  17. RIXRADvidz says:

seriously Labour, you already have a Lenin Rose….just offer a dozen roses
or a box of them, women like chocolate….seriously, the British governing
classes must think women are complete cattle. I really do wish women would
rise up, organize and take back the planet from the Men. Men have made a
mess and typically women will have to clean it up. Seriously. >angry
    pouty faces all around<

  18. Gene L. says:

Sometimes I see these kind of news and think it sure is good to live in
Britain, their biggest concern is whether a political party uses pink van
in their election campaign, while in other countries they have to deal with
    more serious shit.

  19. Conor Benstead says:

“Both parties” well there is more than 2 parties

  20. Iwonderifitwillbefriendswithme says:

John Oliver makes it look really funny, but i think this is just idiots
overreacting. What is bad about the color pink? Up until the 40s or
something pink was mostly associated with boys, and blue with girls,
because pink was regarded as a stronger colour. It turned around for some
reason, and now some dumb bitches feel patronized. Well, who gives a fuck.
