Lightyear | Official Trailer

Every hero has a beginning. Go on an intergalactic adventure with Disney and Pixar’s #Lightyear this June 17, 2022.

“Lightyear” is the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear—the hero who inspired the toy—follows the legendary Space Ranger on an intergalactic adventure. “Buzz’s world was always something I was excited about,” said director Angus MacLane. “In ‘Toy Story,’ there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a Space Ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further. So my ‘Lighytear’ pitch was, ‘What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?’ I wanted to see that movie. And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it.”

Joining the previously announced Chris Evans, who lends his voice to Buzz, are Keke Palmer, Dale Soules and Taika Waititi as a group of ambitious recruits. Peter Sohn voices Buzz’s robot companion, Sox, and the cast also includes the voices of Uzo Aduba, James Brolin, Mary McDonald-Lewis, Efren Ramirez and Isiah Whitlock Jr. “The cast for ‘Lightyear’ is truly a dream team,” said MacLane. “Each of the performers immediately inhabited their character, which gave us the opportunity to play a bit during recording sessions. This resulted in a level of specificity that elevated the material and brought additional depth to the characters’ relationships. It has been a privilege to work with such a talented and generous cast.”

Also revealed this morning, award-winning composer Michael Giacchino, is on board to score “Lightyear.” Giacchino has a long history with Pixar; he won an Oscar, Golden Globe and GRAMMY for the original score in “Up.” His other Pixar credits include “The Incredibles,” “Ratatouille,” “Cars 2,” “Inside Out,” “Coco” and “Incredibles 2,” among others. The Lightyear Original Motion Picture Soundtrack from Walt Disney Records will be available on June 17, 2022.

“Lightyear” is produced by Galyn Susman (“Toy Story That Time Forgot”).

This looks pretty good! I like the style and how realistic yet stylized everything is. It’s so different from what we’ve seen Toy Story be so it’s cool to see Pixar evolving a bit. Zerg spot on yet different than I expected!

@Muhammad Syafiq I remember that show, wish I could find it again, I liked it alongside Lilo and Stitch

Yeah sure evolving 😅 A heros journey with known ip spin-off and on top of that even an animal sidekick to give comedy. Only thing differend is the style choice of it being somewhere between realistic and the more basic style which makes sense since it’s a story kid playing with buzz. I hope it avoids the tropes but I don’t remember original really good concept after Inside Out and I have very little trust in this on writing wise. It can be good but original, not so sure.. especially after the cat showing up to get some dollars from toy sales

In what part of the video Zurg appears? i didn’t saw him o.o

@Xeno I didn’t want to come off rude.

This movie looks like it’s gonna light the cinemas around the world on fire.

  3. Julie Belle says:

Such an interesting idea to make Zurg basically his own tank and general, going after Buzz physically and (hopefully) mentally too. I wonder if by the end of the film he’ll be wearing his signature cape, I think that’d look neat. But I love the idea of him being really active during combat rather than just hiding away and using traps, it definitely evokes a Vader feel over Palpatine, as it should be.

  4. Kingnewcomer says:

Really excited for this movie! I love that this is a separate universe where Lightyear is an actual human being, and not a plastic toy! He even has hair! I am cautiously optimistic, I don’t wanna be overhyped, but I definitely can’t wait to check it out at some point! Maybe if Lightyear does well enough, we could even get potential sequels where it starts adding in characters, and other elements from Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command, that’d be awesome (while balancing them out to make sure that they still work within the films, of course)! 😀

  5. SwonC says:

This honestly looks so good! I can’t put my finger on just why but this is giving me some serious Guardians of the Galaxy vibes. The animation looks beautiful! It’s funny how we went from Toy Story 1 to Lightyear. Definitely gonna give this a watch!

  6. Banden says:

I still remember watching the Buzz Lightyear cartoon movie as a kid (i think it was called the Star Command or somethin) and hoped there would be a live action adaptation or something similar, this is a close second to what i needed but i aint complaining!

  7. Jenn C says:

I have never loved a Trailer so much, the animation is BEYOND STUNNING, the characters are perfect, I can see myself getting attached to them, the story seems to be for the youth but also for the young adult viewers and I am living for it. I’m already loving Sox is already my favorite character

  8. OutcastHeartsCosplay says:

It brings me nostalgia to the old BuzzLighter series on Disney as a kid! The animation is wonder as being more realistic and this trailer gets me excited to wonder what adventure will happen!

  9. Princess Tsuki says:

I wasn’t so sure of the movie when I first saw pictures, but after seeing the trailer I am pretty excited for it! The robots really made me think of Wall-E, which is my favorite Pixar film! So I wonder if this’ll tie into Wall-E somehow? That’d be cool!

  10. Mason R. Powers says:

God I always get chills when “Starman” by David Bowie starts playing. This movie is gonna be awesome
