Lorde – Mood Ring (Lyrics)

I’m tryna blow bubbles but inside
Can’t seem to fix my mood
Today it’s as dark as my roots
If I ever let them grow out
Now all of my oceans have riptides
Can’t seem to find what’s wrong
The whole world is letting me down
Don’t you think the early 2000s seem so far away?

Ladies, begin your sun salutations
Transcendental in your meditations
Love and light
You can burn sage, and I’ll cleanse the crystals
We can get high, but only if the wind blows
Just right

I can’t feel a thing
I keep looking at my mood ring
Tell me how I’m feeling
Floating away, floating away

I’m tryna get well from the inside
Plants and celebrity news
All the vitamins I consume
Let’s fly somewhere eastern, they’ll have what I need

Ladies, begin your sun salutations
Pluto in Scorpio generation
Love and light
You can burn sage, and I’ll cleanse the crystals
We can get high, but only if the wind blows
Just right

I can’t feel a thing
I keep looking at my mood ring
Tell me how I’m feeling
Floating away, floating away
All the sad girls sing
We’ll keep dancing til the mood rings
Tell us how we’re feeling
Floating away, floating away

Take me to some kinda place
Anywhere
Watch the sun set, look back on my life
I just wanna know, will it be alright?

she is such an aesthetic woman like the way she can associate colours with albums and create whole new aesthetics in new ones is just so fascinating to me

      @Angry Prashh shut it bro

    • Naph K says:

@Ryan it was set as pre-premiering for about 24 hours before it’s release so he was able to comment

    • Ayleid Caligo says:

@tonis1983 Well in her mails to her fans she said this whole white girl aesthetic in the videos is satire of white women who benefit from “wellness culture” which usually ends up hurting indigenous people. Her mails are around the internet, it’s interesting to read and they give more insight to what she’s doing

    • Harrison Wills says:

@cat gahan synesthesia is the mixing of senses. So with Lorde it’s that she HEARS colours which functions through her music. Other people can experience it through seeing a taste or smelling colours. Any kind of sensation that isn’t typically associated with the sense you experience it through

@Ryan Hi, the reason is because it was uploaded first as a PREMIERE ahead of a scheduled Live Steam with Ella 15 minutes before the official video release.

My mood changed for the better after listening to this song

Solar Power: “the girls are dancing in the sand”
SATNS: “all the beautiful girls will fade like the roses”
Mood Ring: “all the sad girls sing”

  4. Vaishnavi Singh says:

“Don’t you think the early 2000s seems so far away?”
Lorde listens to our existential crisis online lmao

  5. Lasksk says:

    Lorde: “mood ring feels lilac”
    Lorde in the video: GREEN

  6. Vaishnavi Singh says:

I think the last line: “I just wanna know, will it be alright” Perfectly sums up the song. We are always chasing the feeling of being happy or doing what others are doing to get rid of anxiety and stress (like burning sage and using crystals and vacationing to east because they “might have what I need”) But in the end we just feel emotionless. Like we are suppose to be happy and “healing” but we are not. So we just ask ourselves in the end after doing all this to get peace is: I just wanna know, will it be alright?

    • Minami Uchida says:

It feels exactly like me in lockdown 1 going up to my hill at sunset to run away from online school that invaded my home

  7. Andrew Brown says:

David Bowie once said not long before he passed “watch out for Lorde”

    I’m seeing it 💯💛💚

  8. jd chy says:

i feel like this song’s lowkey talking abt toxic positivity these days & that it’s okay to feel lost, uncertain & empty despite having tried everything you could – what an absolute relatable bop

  9. DaFuq!?Boom! says:

Very nice, compelling song. Felt like ‘wind blows’ line was a reference to Tears For Fears, but maybe it’s just me ;D

  10. Natasha Rose says:

Each new single from lorde feels like a petal unfolding from a flower, I love appreciating each song individually. And im so intrigued to be able to see how they fit together as a whole album 🌸
This is my favourite so far
