10:19 That scene says it all about this channel. It’s not all about the house build. The lifestyle and family connection is the important aspect, to me anyways. I so wish I had gone this route 40 years ago. I’m envious Kenzie and Spencer. Stay safe, keep well, and enjoy your wonderful life.

@Alexis Adams Nothing specific, just life in general. At the time I would have loved to do what these two are doing now.

    • Alexis Adams says:

Sorry I should have been more specific… I meant the comment about wishing to have gone the same route 40 years ago. Wondering if it was referencing a decision to have kids or not. Just curious.

Really love how Spencer goes about his to do list and understands that with time and patience everything turns out just as they planned. I can’t imagine the look of Kenzie watching as the outdoor shower is dismantled either joy or the parting of old ways. Maybe if you ask real nicely Kenzie Spencer will come up with a root cellar storm shelter combo. I wonder how you both are coping with the storms the last few weeks have been crazy but it is spring and that happens just stay safe and give those kids hugs and kisses 💋 be careful and stay safe my friends God love ❤ ya both.

    • Dharri says:

The root cellar/storm shelter combo is an excellent idea, which is also a motivator in getting a garden growing and a canning station of some sort may also come into play in the fall.

Suggestion: Spencer knows how to turn a shipping container into a living space. You have an extra container. Create a reinforced concrete vault near the house and underground, add insulation, electrical, plumbing & furnishings and turn it into your family storm shelter.

    • Robbie Hudgens says:

Good idea. With proper bracing if the walls and ceiling that should work. Too bad they didn’t think if that first, then they could have put it under the house and built a trap door inside. I also saw a few years ago someone had enclosed a large porch with half walls and windows. The put an long island out there that would lock in place but was moveable. That was their entry to a storm cellar. The rest of the time it served as buffet table for parties or just small family “picnics”. Something like that could still be added, use a container, and be easily accessible from the house without having to get out in the weather.

    • Scott Smith says:

@Carol Kinyon Not if you don’t reinforce them with concrete around all sides, top and bottom, and a concrete stairwell going down to it.

I live in tornado alley; most folks here don’t have a shelter. I know one guy that did, by the time he got the shelter door, the tornado had passed, his house roof was 500 yards away in the fields. The best shelters are under the house.

    • Karen Lindsay says:

That’s been my thinking from the beginning, not knowing if that is even viable. It’s crazy I worry about this beautiful family as much as my own. Love n blessings to you all 💜🐝

One of the most heart-warming moments of your videos to date is when Kenzie was sitting on the floor hugging your kids. It made me tear up. The bathroom looks great, but what doesn’t? Also when toy guys started filming the storm, the first thing that popped in my head was a storm shelter. I pray that you stay safe and are out of harms way.

You’re children don’t yet realize how lucky they are to have you as their parents. The time will come eventually. I love the life and family you have both developed. Envious!

Storm shelter idea: Bury another container and connect it to your house with some downstairs and a corridor leading to it. It could double as a cool store for when you grow your own produce. Then snake-proof your fence using 1/4 in mesh and overhangs. Love your blinds and bathrooms.

  8. Dune P says:

The tile work looks awesome Spencer. I agree about the tornadoes. A shelter is definitely warranted along with an early warning weather monitor. Consider an ICF shelter large enough for bunks to ride out storms. They can be built to withstand anything. Oh yeah, and buy some snake boots for walking. Snakes will usually bite low because that’s where they are. You’ll still be scared, but it will save you on a hospital bill. Safety is everything.

I’m so happy for you guys, as a married man myself, especially happy for you husband. Building your own house for your family is like one of the ultimate dream works for any man I believe

Your home is so beautiful and you guys did it all by yourself! Amazing! The weather this year has been crazy everywhere. I live in South Carolina and last week we had terrible storms and Tornadoes. Growing up, we never had Tornadoes. I am so thankful your family is in a home now. Love those babies, so adorable 🥰
