Metallica: Screaming Suicide (Official Music Video)

Metallica: Screaming Suicide (Official Music Video)

Metallica’s official music video for “Screaming Suicide,” from the album “72 Seasons” available April 14th, 2023.

“‘Screaming Suicide’ addresses the taboo word of suicide. The intention is to communicate about the darkness we feel inside. It’s ridiculous to think we should deny that we have these thoughts. At one point or another, I believe most people have thought about it. To face it is to speak the unspoken. If it’s a human experience, we should be able to talk about it. You are not alone.”

LYRICS

Welcome to this life
Born into the fight
Here to claim your dream
Look you in the eye
Patch the broken sky
Craving dopamine
Then my voice appears
Teaching you of fears
Are you good enough?
You don’t recognize
Head is full of lies
You should just give up

Listen well, better listen well
Listen well, better listen well

Don’t ever speak my name
Remember you’re to blame
Keep me inside
Keep me inside
My name is suicide

Curse another day
Spirit locked away
Punish and deprive
Hate to be awake
Living a mistake
More dead than alive
Then a voice appears
Whisper in your ears
“You are good enough”
Throwing down a rope
A lifeline of hope
Never give you up

Listen well, better listen well
Listen well, better listen well

Don’t ever speak my name
Remember you’re to blame
Keep me inside
Keep me inside
My name is suicide

Terrified in sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
Isolate and fight your mind
Telling you you’re left behind

My lying voice inside
Keeps drinking cyanide
And no more can you run
Into the sun

Terrified, sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
Isolate and fight your mind
Telling you you’re left behind

And now you speak my name
You’ve given back the blame
Keep me deep inside
Don’t you keep me inside
Screaming suicide

Now that I’m exposed inside
Shined a light on cyanide
I’m no longer needed here
Now you’ve faced your biggest fear

“taboo” of a word used in music for decades to the point its lost all meaning. Metallica already have a song called “Suicide and Redemption,” lyrics on Death Magnetic of “Suicide, I’ve already died!” and other stracks. What is this lol

    • Jack Todd says:

Yes James suicide is massive problem way more massive than this so called pandemia bs which oh irony is the main cause of suicide for last two , no sorry 3 years.

    • Cody cox says:

  2. Jones says:

*Love Metallica?.. Check out SOLAR KAMA SUTRA – the best underground band on Earth!*

    • DDinfan T says:

    • ADAN says:

    • Bryan Butron says:

Chale hasta los metaleros son Alucin. Te faltó “Metallica es la luz”

  3. Deminus says:

Suicide is the taboo pandemic, and I’m glad my boys at Metallica are shedding light on the topic. Many of us live or have dealt with it at some point of our lives, and even rescued others from committing by frustrating an attempt. The song is solid, deep and powerful, like everyone dealing with this situation. Stay strong everybody.

  4. Мистер Огонёчек says:

Despite the years, METALLICA will always be the best thrash metal band for me. It’s incredible how James still hasn’t lost his great essence of creating great works.

  5. Ярослав Лукьянов says:

Металлика по-прежнему на высоте! Мужики конкретно зажигают!

  6. 21palica says:

This song was clearly written to convey an important message and address the current suicide epidemic. Stay strong, seek help if you feel overwhelmed. Sometimes it is enough just to have someone to listen to you. But don’t suffer in silence, SCREAM SUICIDE! A powerful song from Metallica!

  7. Gigann Plus says:

You can hear James’ voice changed a bit, but that’s not a bad thing at all. It perfectly fits this song, and i really hope there will be more songs like this one

  8. De la playa y el campo says:

2023 40 years since KEA and this guys are still metal. I read the comments and there is a lot of people who feel this feeling inside and it’s good to know you are not alone. Talk to someone, play some music but whatever you do, remember we love having you here. ❤

  9. Ondrej Kakes says:

I am glad that James has been opening up this problems. He has been struggling himself and it’s really important that he can talk about those things. And music is excellent way how to do it 🤘

    • eternal monstrosity says:

No dude they are jumping on the suicide pandemic solution… Why not remind everyone who is weak enough to think about it, to hopefully do it
