Oppenheimer – Only In Theaters 7 21 23

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is an IMAX®-shot epic thriller that thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.

The film stars Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt as his wife, biologist and botanist Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer. Oscar® winner Matt Damon portrays General Leslie Groves Jr., director of the Manhattan Project, and Robert Downey, Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, a founding commissioner of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission.

Academy Award® nominee Florence Pugh plays psychiatrist Jean Tatlock, Benny Safdie plays theoretical physicist Edward Teller, Michael Angarano plays Robert Serber and Josh Hartnett plays pioneering American nuclear scientist Ernest Lawrence.

Oppenheimer also stars Oscar® winner Rami Malek and reunites Nolan with eight-time Oscar® nominated actor, writer and filmmaker Kenneth Branagh.

The cast includes Dane DeHaan (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets), Dylan Arnold (Halloween franchise), David Krumholtz (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Matthew Modine (The Dark Knight Rises).

The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Christopher Nolan.

Oppenheimer is filmed in a combination of IMAX® 65mm and 65mm large-format film photography including, for the first time ever, sections in IMAX® black and white analogue photography.

Nolan’s films, including Tenet, Dunkirk, Interstellar, Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, have earned more than $5 billion at the global box office and have been awarded 11 Oscars and 36 nominations, including two Best Picture nominations.

  2. Mountain Climbing Productions says:

@Vishanth Fastino If you watched it at a good theater, like a good IMAX theater, you could hear the dialogue just fine

    • Vishanth Fastino says:

@random to understand the movie, maybe. But doesn’t change how bad the sound mixing is. That’s the worst I’ve heard in a movie. I couldn’t understand the conversation cauz it was inaudible. I had to watch it again at home with several rewinds to make sense of it. Nobody gets that liberty at a movie theatre

    • Tarang Nair says:

@AmazingChina They’re both entirely different movies apart from having a war backdrop. No point in comparing them

    • Tarang Nair says:

@random Nah, Tenet was kinda mid.

    • AmazingChina says:

@random I can only speak for myself. 😁 The film “Fury” was superior in every way to snoozefest Dunkirk.

Just the facial expression of his shows the immense emotions and the heart he had put in. I won’t be surprised if he is front runner for Best Actor nomination next time around.

It never fails to amaze me how Christopher Nolan, even without attending film school, manages to create such unique, outstanding, pieces of art and become one of the best directors of all time

    • Amit Chourasia says:

It’s because film school can only teach you technical and theoretical aspects of filmmaking but what makes a great movie is the way a person incubates a story other thing like VFX stunt etc just serves the purpose of storytelling in bringing director’s vision to life

    • Uesuree says:

Proof you don’t need an education to be a genius. You just have to keep doing the same thing over and over, till you become an expert at your craft.

    • Rúben says:

@zammmerjammer I don’t know, I feel like it’s very hard to become a director and have success without the connections film school gives you

    • zammmerjammer says:

Film school sucked all joy I had in filmmaking out of me in 3 years (and it was a 4-year degree), so I can see that making sense.

  5. Joe says:

I applaud Christopher Nolan’s commitment to getting his shots in-camera, using film, with practical effects done on the set whenever possible. So for this one I have concerns…

  6. You Serious!!???? says:

Give the cast and crew a big round of an applause for sacrificing themselves from a large nuclear bomb explosion during filming make the movie felt more real and authentic

  7. Abhishek Dhar says:

You think how can this man be any better and then he drops another time and again. What an absolute living legend🤚🙏

  9. Tamil Infos says:

Christopher Nolan is keep pushing the potential of cinema. One of the few directors who educates and inspires the audiences.

  10. Austin Han says:

Used to work at a nursing home. One of the movies being shown was Day One, a drama also based on Oppenheimer and the manhattan project. While us then-college students were engaged if a little fascinated, our elders all watched with a solemn, deafeningly silent dread. Here’s hoping Nolan continues to deliver us some first class existentialist crises.
