Love that no CGI was used to make her younger and instead its all lighting & camera tricks
They should have used CGI. This idea that CGI = bad cinema is so absurd. Massive advancements in CGI have happened in the last few years with deep learning. It can be applied quickly within a single medium spec pc like as efficiently as make-up. Not using it is becoming a Luddite for the sake of contrarian currency. In this context, it just creates inconsistencies visually between films, breaking immersion.
Don’t think you know how cgi works
And makeup , don’t forget makeup.
She was old, as stated in first movie with dwarfism condition, and she burn their own house as a recall before she went to adoption. Shes supposed to be 36 years old
The double it’s for the body shots, when the character it’s turning her back on chamera. But her deaging it’s cgi. You can even notice some flawsZ
The first one was so good and doesn’t get talked about enough; the plot twist alone is something that I never would have guessed. Can’t wait to see this!
I agree, I love the first one and no one ever talks about it.
My favorite horror film ever. HOLY FUCK IM HYPED
Its about to be hyped
Eh, people had the first twist guessed before the movie came out, down to the use of the choker to hide injuries. Still solid, but easy to spot.
Big fan of the original, can’t wait!
I’d probably say the first one was my first real scary movie I honestly got so scared SH@TLESS from it
Me too
@ballslap 🙁
@Riley Braukman ok and?
We ve literally known abt this for years wdym just because ur out of the loop don’t speak for everyone dummy
I remember watching The Orphan a long time ago, and remember it was so disturbing. After watching this, I really can’t wait to see it 🙌🏻 Was a bit surprised when it was announced they were doing a prequel, and now, I’m excited for it.
@Victo Sousa or it couldve been like the latest Halloween movies with the killer being wheeled in and saved at the hospital lol you never know
@SevnLi haha, it would be very crazy but the way Hollywood goes i don’t doubt. Imagine they doing Orphan Vs. Jason Vorhees or something ridiculous like this lol
@Victo Sousa that makes sense. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the original 😅 but I could also see how they might bring her back to life too (in future installments… bc hollywood)
@SevnLi yeah, since she dies in the first movie
I saw it on HBO, cable around 2011, 2012. I liked about 80% of it. The father, actor just got SO sappy over the top. Like he never trained or had a teacher! 🎭 The end was a twist.
Even more horrifying of a backstory than I expected! I love the insinuation that she killed a child and passed herself off as them.
Let’s go. The first Orphan is easily a favourite of mine and I can’t wait to watch the prequel. So happy they got the same actress too! Let’s go.
@magoog init! Exciting 😀
2x Let’s go added a lot to this comment.
She was destined to play this role!!!!!!! I remember watching the first one as a child and I still carry its intriguing effect. So excited for this one!
I think it’s safe to say very few of us expected a prequel to Orphan, especially so many years after the first one. Curious to see it.
Wow! They did a good job de-aging her. And Isabelle’s accent is still so spot on. 👌🏼 So excited to see this! 😍❤️🔥
@Chris It makes more sense, a person with her condition doesn’t actually look like an 8 year old like we saw her in the first movie, this looks more spot on
@elphbwckd No, but from the story perspective Esther or Leena is doing her first attempt of impresionate a little girl, so is obvious that the “disguise” isn’t perfect as it was in the first movie.
Plus even if their use some kind of cgi to perfect de-age her, the illusion wouldn’t work because the audience knows what is the secret of Esther. But not so the characters whithin the story, so it make it works.
Lol not they did not.. she looks 40 here
@elphbwckd maybe she got better at her makeup with age as we saw
@elphbwckd lmfao
100% sure that Ester’s acting is gonna be marvellous
