Pete’s Dragon – Official US Trailer

Some secrets are too big to keep ? Watch the brand new trailer for Disney’s Pete’s Dragon, starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, and Oakes Fegley. ? See the film when it flies onto the big screen in 3D August 12!

A reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, “Pete’s Dragon” is the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, who just so happens to be a dragon. “Pete’s Dragon” stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Oscar® winner Robert Redford. The film, which is directed by David Lower, is written by Lowery & Toby Halbrooks based on a story by Seton I. Miller and S.S. Field and produced by Jim Whitaker, p.g.a., with Barrie M. Osborne serving as executive producer.

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon. Disney’s “Pete’s Dragon” opens in U.S. theaters on August 12, 2016.

Cant say I am a big fan of the Dragon CGI. Looks too jarringly cartoonish
    compared to the real people

Now if we had any real animal befriending a child. Its fur would most
likely make it to the wall of a hunter, or peta would step in saying about
all the people hunting the animal

Anyone else getting an “E.T.” vibe from this trailer? If someone had told
me that this was directed by Steven Spielberg or J.J. Abrams (who directed
“Super 8” which felt very much like a Spielberg film), I would believe
them. Looks like David Lowery is certainly someone to keep an eye on as
this film looks visually stunning. It’s no wonder that they are entrusting
him with Disney’s future “Peter Pan” live-action adaptation. I’m liking the
small nods to the original with the phrase “I Saw A Dragon” at the end, and
the capture of Elliot. I could almost see this as more of a sequel to
“Pete’s Dragon” seeing as it takes place in a modern Pacific Northwest
forest as opposed to the coastal town of Passamaquoddy, Maine in the early
19th century. Lest we forget, at the end of the original film Elliot left
to help another kid in trouble. I hope the film includes nods to the songs
that won’t be included, or that “Candle On The Water” at least be played
during the end credits. So far, this looks to be a fun family adventure at
    any rate. 🙂
