@Jeolban it’s pokemon, it will sell well. It really doesn’t mean anything. It’s all up to Gamefreak to decide what they want to do with the franchise. No matter what they do, their games will sell.
@The Somber Gamer Its a Gamefreak pokemon game so it will sell well. I doubt it’s gonna massively outsell sword and shield though. It’s all up to Gamefreak. No matter what they do, they will find huge success so it’s up to them to decide if they want to innovate or not. Sales really isn’t a headache for them.

I have so many problems with the Pokémon franchise, but I truly hope this is a step in a new direction
@Micah Joel Geimer You’re logic is folly. It’s aim towards children, but that doesn’t mean the game has to be mediocre. Don’t have low standards and make excuses for a poor quality product. Mario and Zelda are aim towards children, and look at Breath of Wild and Mario Odyssey: Nice graphics/aesthetics and gameplay has tons of depth. Those games were thought out and had effort put into them. Look at any recent Pokémon game with their lack of animation, ugly aesthetics/graphics, and lack of depth/growth in their gameplay. At least Arceus is trying something new to attract newcomers and maybe old school fans who haven’t touch the franchise since the gameboy era, like me, might stick around if the franchise continues to move forward like this. Pokémon has been stagnant since forever and yet fanboys continue to make excuses for the series lack of innovation. I’m not expecting KOTOR level of writing or Final Fantasy 7 Remake graphics. I’m just asking for a decent product and Arceus looks like it might answers the fans’ prayers, and heck, it might turn me into fan if it turns out to be good. Arceus certainly taught my attention.
@Micah Joel Geimer You’re right that it’s primarily a kids game but Pokemon Yellow and Crystal are still good games in 2022, people just expect more graphically because of what they’re used to. The previous games (XY, ORAS & SwSh) have introduced gimmick mechanics, not new ideas. Legends at least aims to offer a completely different playstyle than previous titles and I think the franchise needs a refresh.
We all love Pokemon, but everything has been copy/paste since 1999.

I haven’t been super excited for a Pokemon game in a while, but I preordered this not too long back as it seemed very unique. Having watched this review, Friday can’t come soon enough!

Mannnn, its freakin’ amaazzzinnngg! Definitely going to keep you up all night playing it like when you’re a kid again!
It feels nice to finally get something alittle different and refreshing from Pokemon. All these remakes of games we all played as kids/teens at first had me excited but I found myself quickly getting bored of the same old formula game after game. Between not being able to find/buy actual cards due to scalpers and ridiculous inflation to the same old games I felt in the last few years my love of Pokemon really take a hit. Will be nice to finally have something alittle bit new and fresh to reinvigorate the series.
I want a new ranger game especially since we have now joy cons that could be used like the device we had in the games for capture.
@HandheldGamer1991 oh yea that would be interesting too! We will have to see how ‘well’ this game dones for them financially. If we speak loudly enough with our wallets they may decide to venture into other things

@HandheldGamer1991 You’re the first person I’ve seen bring up ranger in reference to this game. That’s definitely a game they should bring back to the switch.
It’s a good day for Pokémon fans when Nintendo Life says they had a good time with a new Pokémon title.
You guys are more critical than most on Pokémon (which is a good thing), so to see such a positive review from this channel has me hyped.

@Simple Tips I hope this sells better than most other Pokemon Switch titles to see what fans really want. Not that I haven’t enjoyed the other games but I think I can say I will enjoy this one a bit more, in the end the Pokémon Company will be the big winner anyway but that doesn’t mean they can’t give us games we want. Fingers crossed

the new mechanics are what we needed in the series decades ago, talking about the combat system, it is the right direction in my opinion.
and the most important, this is the hardest pokemon game since black and white and i am glad (it is not an insanely hard pokemon, just not as easy as the other 3d games) , the strategy component is more present here.
complete the pokedex is challenging and rewarding, i am sure this is not for everyone, but for those that enjoy doing this can say it is one of the best implemented until now
Was Black and White…. hard? Dude, you can finish any Pokémon games without struggle and Black and White is not an exception.
Besides, although it is not that hard, the most “complicated” game in Pokémon is Ultra Sun and Ultra moon. Black and White are sleepy…
@Pedro Monteiro Only the Ghethis battle was difficult but Black and White weren’t hard they were just more ambitious. Those games took most risk by only allowing you to catch gen 5 pokemon.

I’m really thinking about jumping on this one. I’ve never really played any of the past Pokemon games. But this looks like my jam (I love open-world games)
I have never played properly any Pokemon games besides the GameBoy ones, i was never too much interested in any of the games besides Detective Pikachu, but this to be honest looks like my jam!

@DarkHaven lol it sounds more like you’ve grown out of the franchise, which is fine. Nobody is forcing you to sit here and pout that we don’t have a T or M-rated Pokémon game with mechanics that are to your liking. Some of the most memorable Pokémon games are from the DS era that plenty of people go back and replay to this day.
You also sound like you want to dumb down the series by making it easy and less challenging. As if the current difficulty state of these games needs to be anymore easy than it already is.
Not saying the series can’t improve graphically or presentation-wise, but what you want is a whole other different game. Again, move on if it isn’t to your liking anymore. Don’t speak on the behalf of the many other fans who are just fine with the current state of the battle gameplay.
@DarkHaven That’s your experience. Most people don’t just rely on 1 pokemon on their team to win everything so I got no clue what you’re talking about there lol. Also, you’re agitated because you just have to click one button? What? This isn’t Dark Souls or Mortal Kombat lol. Again, you want the Pokémon franchise to be something it’s not. I don’t want another games mechanics to be copied and pasted into Pokémon, if I want to I’ll just go play that game when I want to take a break from Pokémon lol.
@qactustick I think combat, open world and over world Pokemon should stay but the gameplay loop obviously is not goi g to stay.

@DarkHaven Persona5 has such a fluid battle system and so good to look at, it’s hard to like any other system including persona 4.

Been playing since gen1, this looks to be exactly what i wanted minus multiplayer and higher quality across the board. Gamefreak is improving and I love to see it!
I love the idea of needing more than just catching the pokemon to complete its entry. Every single pokemon gets more time in the sun, its more surprising that it took this long!
I hope this sells extremely well and shows Game Freak that they’ve been leaving money on the table all these years by refusing to change. I’m sure they’ve been happy with the sales and that’s why they kept the game as it was, but they could easily appeal to both kids and adults by altering the format and skill levels.
