That went wrong fast. Wonder if that was just a normal bad time to hit a curb or if the new car added something to that? Watching it in slowmo I think that was just a don’t do this with any F1 car. Hard hit. Glad he was ok.

I’m so happy for Checo, and just think it’s only a couple of seasons ago he was about to lose his F1 seat, now look at him. Pole position at the fastest circuit on the calendar.

Wait, so no one talks about how Magnussen who only managed to squeeze in several laps on a new track he has never raced before but still got through Q3? What a comeback from him and HAAS so far.
Yes, but the bigger news is that Alpine, who were forecasted to be at the back of the midfield pack during testing, are actually at the front of the midfield pack two weekends in a row now. And these first two tracks are a bit more favorable towards the higher engine power cars, which the Alpines are not. I believe they can perform even better in Australia, assuming none of their competitors bring in a huge performance upgrade down under.

Checo has always fought incredibly hard just to keep his seat in f1. To see him take pole fair and square from all these other great drivers makes me so happy.
I mean, not since 2020 he hasn’t. That’s the one time I can remember him fighting for his future.
