Soul | Official Trailer
Everybody has a soul. Joe Gardner is about to find his. Watch the new trailer for Disney and Pixar’s Soul, in theaters June 19.
About Soul:
Joe Gardner is a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22, who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.
Featuring the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, Angela Bassett, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Daveed Diggs, “Soul” is directed by Academy Award® winner Pete Docter (“Inside Out,” “Up”), co-directed by Kemp Powers (“One Night in Miami”) and produced by Academy Award nominee Dana Murray (Pixar short “Lou”). Globally renowned musician Jon Batiste will be writing original jazz music for the film, and Oscar®-winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (“The Social Network”), from Nine Inch Nails, will compose an original score that will drift between the real and soul worlds.

The “You’re still alive?” part should’ve been kept secret. That would’ve made a great gasping-moment revelation in the theaters.
Today’s trailer just spoil the entire movie
Theory: when he jumps down to his body he brings that other character with him, I’m guessing the other character is going to accidentally get put into his body somehow and they’ll have to find a way to fix that situation
True, i’m now mad ive seen the trailer.
agreed… but…
it’s PIXAR, man, they’re not stupid. that won’t be the gut-punching reveal.. just u watch…. 😁
“The count’s off.” “Huh…”
Realizing that Jamie Foxx’s character actually was SUPPOSED to die…
Reminds me of the Fates from Hercules
I have a hunch that the film is going to end with Jamie Foxx’s character accepting his death and becoming a teacher for the souls that get sent to Earth. Thus “the count” will be fixed.
or that he wasnt supposed to be there in the first place.
@Arts Veiman That could also be a possibility! Either way this movie looks like a fun existential crisis!
This looks like a mix of “A Christmas Carol” and “Inside Out”
Genuinely super excited!
The movie really looks interesting doesn’t it?
It’s really based on a pretty nice concept!😉
pretty nice concept exclamation mark wink
“Always listen to Pete Doctor”
-SuperCarlinBrothers
Seriously though this looks the same way inside out is, more serious and powerful than typical disney movies.
@Ron the Auraknight Pete Doctor didn’t make Coco. He made Up, Monsters Inc and Inside Out
@Jadealex And by that creds alone, you’ll know how good this’ll be!
This movie is about a guy who falls into a hole..
who falls into another world…
and falls into another, another world…
and sees souls that are falling into earth…
and goes through another hole to save himself…
and the logo, too, has a hOle in it.
In conclusion, this movie is about holes.
@prince apoopoo DDDDRRRR…. DDDDDRRRRRDDDRRRRR
Is this a sequel to Holes? Or am I just tripping? Well anyways if we don’t have Shia LeBeouf I ain’t watching it
The Holes sequel
ITS HOLE INCEPTION
The real, human world of a Pixar movie has never looked so beautiful. Toy Story 4 looked great, but this feels like a whole new level.
Yeh I agree, there’s something special about the animation of the main character
I have a feeling this movie will be a visual masterpiece
Jayron Buno hey brother
Nathan L I keep on seeing you everywhere! Can you believe that?! Anyways hola bro
Nathan L Right now I hate the character designs for the humans, but I have a feeling I’ll get used to them over the course of the film, much like the low frame rate of Into the Spider Verse that I also used to hate.
First teaser: “this world looks unimaginative and black and void…????”
This trailer: “WHOA OKAY NEVERMIND”
ok so from what I can gather. He has “the best day of his life” but when he fell down into the sewer he had a pretty tragic accident. In whats probably a coma he enters what looks like a soul world. The scene where you see him running away from the light is a perfect analogy. The light being death and him not wanted to die and so he holds on to life. It seems he doesnt have an extremely happy life but you can tell certain things highlight his day such as his students and the music he plays and when he got the gig he was talking about everything was about to get alot better and so to him “life is worth living for”
why do i have the feeling that this was an idea for pixar spark shorts and they actually turned it into a movie
That actually seems really accurate
It wasn’t, all of it was directly from Pete Doctors amazing mind
Must be all the minimalism in their designs. I had the same feeling. For a moment I thought it was a trailer for their next short film, not the feature.
It’s a spinoff of one of the Sparkshorts
“We can’t smell, taste, or touch?!”
*FIGMENT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION*
If they cant smell feel or taste why do they see and hear??
what about emotions?
WilliamButWierd *IMAGINATIONS A BLAST*
@MajorRenegade Emotions can taste.
@ReasyRandom taste music?
“Is all this living really worth dying for” – That hits home
Welp it’s canon
That lamp is the god of the Pixar universe
He judges you and punishes your sins
“That lamp” has a name and it’s “Luxo Jr.”
Respect your god.
Pesents
Everyone: Inside Out is Pixar’s most existential film.
Pixar: So, this next one starts with the protagonist dying…
Robert Clark You implied that reincarnation anime weren’t “good”
@Jay Johnson well, some of them is good like Inuyasha, Shield Hero, Konosuba, Re;Zero, Overlord and Slime..
But I really.. really despite Hero who bring his phone become godlike..
“Is all this living really worth dying for?”
Oh… oh no.
Still my question after 23 years of living..
@Nidhi Kesharwani I’d recommend travel, but like…wait a few weeks?
Let the existencial crisis begin!
@Jane Doe I’d recommend having a bunch of money. Like a ton.
Pixar: Onward isn’t doing so hot what do we do?????
Disney: Release the Soul trailer…..
This time “PIXAR” is setting its benchmark on a whole new level with this kind of animation.
It looks like SOUL is somehow based on ‘near death experiences’ or something like that.
Can’t wait to see:-)
I Absolutely agree,
Early Pixar: “What if toys had souls?”
2000s Pixar: “What if robots had souls?”
Modern Pixar: “What if feelings had souls?”
Current Pixar: “What if souls had souls?”
I have a theory: when Joe jumps down to his body he brings 22 with him, I’m guessing 22 is going to accidentally get put into his body somehow and they’ll have to find a way to fix that situation, and after they do 22 will want to go back to the living world
