Spinning a Record to Pieces at 12,500fps – The Slow Mo Guys

Gav and Dan take 1 piece of vinyl and spin it so fast it becomes about 50,000 pieces of vinyl. The results are obviously captured by a very high speed camera.

Mad editing when you spun the video to match the colors on the record.

Do this with a 10″ or larger sawblade.
Yeah, I know, that would be mighty dangerous!

Brilliant vid! Record breaking, record breaking! ? I love how you made the whole frame spin 12:26, keeping the record still… Awesome ?

Has anyone ever made just a compilation of Dan’s reaction noises? Phwoarrr…

God, those people on Twitter who basically guessed it correctly are the modern age Albert Einstein and Thomas Eddison

*Guys, I think it’s time you invested in some thick plexiglass panels (or whatever the Mythbusters used on their show).* If you’re generating these kinds of fragments, you’re going to want to contain them with something other than a few cinder blocks and a board. (Especially since the fragments are going in all sorts of directions.)

Now Gav has millions of razor sharp shards in his backyard. Smart.

Teacher: Could you please describe us the graph?
Me: Yeah sure, there it is not wobbly and there it is more wobbly
    Teacher: Great job

  15. Madame Jelly says:

I wonder what would happen if you stopped the spinning mid-warp? What shape would the record be then?

    • Totto87 says:

It would go back to it’s original shape. The flexibility in a record is what allows it to warp before shattering, instead of instant shatter.

Now this is a slow mo! 12500 FPS, not that sillly 1000 FPS almost smartphone speed. And the backyard, not the fancy filming crew and some sort of testing site. Good ol` slomo guys! lol

There is no way you can enter this garden barefoot

    • John Tilton says:

Dominic Thoma Yes you could. All you would have to do is take off your shoes and socks and then walk into the garden. Easy.

You spin me right round, baby

To be honest with you there are lot of peoples out there who needs subtitles to watch to understand…..I hope this message will be a advantage to u

    • Stan Kulinskyi says:

Ayush Dutta English is not my first language, I learned it myself, but I have no problems understanding them.

    • Max Powers says:

Deaf and hard-of-hearing people exist, Jack. People who speak other languages and have some knowledge reading English exist, Jack.

    • Jack Mackay says:

Max Powers this is obviously not what the original comment was referring to max. The same could be said for every channel max. It was obviously about their English accents max.

    • Stan Kulinskyi says:

Max Powers ye, why don’t u go and comment this under every YouTube video without subs then? I know there are people out there with disabilities and I feel for them, but it’s not my fault that not everyone thinks about subs for them. And there’s no need to be mad about it, Jack.

    • TotallyNotJazzie says:

      #commaJack2018 xD

Seriously though, the way that initial comment was written made him sound like a secondary school teacher giving you an ear full…

No one will be able to walk barefoot in their backyard ever again
