I remember signing the petition for a Pike spin-off after season two of Discovery aired, not thinking anything would come of it because those sorts of petitions never lead anywhere, I just wanted to show my support for the show and the wonderful additions of Pike, Spock and Number One, and their actors’ great work, and now here we are! So excited!

Must hold the record for the largest gap between pilot episode and series commission.
I’m loving the look of this show. I already know I love most of the actors and characters they portray. Just need to see what the stories are like now.
    Let’s see what’s out there

    • Ryan Cross says:

@Jarl Knudsen Not really unheard of. I mean there are still many people in the world today using technology developed thousands of years ago even though more advanced tools and methods exist.

    • Not Always Lurking says:

@Brad Hope A flashback(s) to Aprils I hope at some point. No rush.

    • FunnyDougy says:

@Jarl Knudsen Omg good call. Like black elves created in a world with no sun. As a message to us, we need black elves.

    • Dan K says:

@Noah Sullivan Yah I see that now. 👍🖖

@Rob well in all fairness it doesnt exactly cry futuristic setting, the only time they really used retro tech in ds9 was a solar sail for a starship to fly aorund at sublight speeds. and that was more of a cultural experiment to see if historic claims were plausible to have actually happened. Meh… I am not against their being a wind turbine… but I am on edge about it. I liked parts of the trailer… I just dont like how fast paced the discovery series is… it lacked the warmth of 90s tv shows.

What a great teaser. I love it that Pike is very likely seen here, trying to deal with the vision of his horrible future, imparted to him on DSC.

    • Nergalsama01 says:

@moeskido Well, it does say some things about a character if they know what tragic fate will come over them, but they still wouldn’t change a thing, because it’ll be for a good cause.

    • DSWynne says:

Just because there is a fixed point in history, that doesn’t mean that the events leading to that point can’t be written on HIS terms. If I knew that I was going to die on such-and-such a date, I would make the most of my life, however I see fit. I think Pike will have that same epiphany.

    • moeskido says:

@Josiah Miller Doesn’t matter to me. Watching him come to terms with that knowledge so he can get back to work is what matters to me. They may not be able to change it, but they might reinterpret it in a new way. Not all the dominoes have fallen yet.

    • Josiah Miller says:

@moeskido Because we the viewers don’t already know anyone else’s endgames (at least not any tragic ones), only his. There is no suspense possible for Pike. The Original Series showed us where he ends up. They can’t go back and change it.

    • moeskido says:

@Josiah Miller Because that would remove suspense, merely to please impatient fans. Why not let every character in Star Trek know *their* endgames, too?

Love the look of that new shuttle! Bring on the modernized TOS aesthetic!

  5. van76 says:

It will be wonderful to see the original Enterprise 1701 to fly on the small screens again since TOS. I hope they dedicate the series to the memories of the Star Trek: the Cage cast.

  6. Scott Horne says:

There are no words that can express how excited I am for this show! Can’t wait!!

  7. Corey says:

Mount as Pike was fantastic in Discovery! Definitely going to sub to Paramount Plus again when a few episodes have built up!

  8. Ramon Rowlette says:

So very excited for a new show. This looks like so much fun.

  9. The Dork Knight says:

I am so hyped for this show. Not only is the cast awesome, but I really look forward to them going back to a single episode story format.

  10. D. Brown says:

So funny how that communicator sitting on the desk looks just like a flip phone, to the point that you dont know this is science fiction until you see the shuttle. Amazing how real technology caught up with the fictional world.

    • Matt Maze says:

It looks like TOS communicator. Better than DISCOVERY or the god awful one in THE CAGE.

    • julietvalcouer says:

Huh, I was thinking “You’d think they’d have something better than inefficient, space-consuming, wind turbines by then.”

    • Patrick Greer says:

And he appears to be a collector of old tech. Their is a old Bakelite black phone in the background and 60’s style lamp. In the Cage he had a console cabinet tv in his quarters which was very modern at the time but in retcon he loves the antiques! 😉
