Could this potentially be the ‘great filter’ that solves the fermi-paradox?
You could imagine that whatever sort of life arises, in the galaxy. When
they become technologically advanced enough they will protect themselves
with anti-biotics or similar sort. But then natural selection gets the
upper hand again and by major epidemics the only thing left.. Simple life
again. This cycle repeats so that every time intelligent life forms
civilisations and fight their diseases, in doing so the time span of their
existence is not long enough. The chance now gets very small for two
civilisations with communication technology, to live on planets close
enough for realistic and detectable communication.

I really hope someone smart can contradict me tough. Kurzgesagt, what are
    your thoughts on this?

  14. Pea Soup says:

Vancomycin used to be a last resort antibiotic until vancomycin resistance
was found in European cattle. Regulation on antibiotic use needs to be
tightened way the hell up! Ban excess antibiotic use, and antibiotic
resistance in pathogenic bacteria should be selected out eventually.

Honestly we should create a super antibiotic and have a huge stock and not
release it to anyone, so if a pandemic happens we can kill it.
