Experience the story of THE HUNGER GAMES — 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute, and decades before Coriolanus Snow became the tyrannical President of Panem.
THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES follows a young Coriolanus (Tom Blyth) who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With his livelihood threatened, Snow is reluctantly assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), a tribute from the impoverished District 12. But after Lucy Gray’s charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift their fates. With everything he has worked for hanging in the balance, Snow unites with Lucy Gray to turn the odds in their favor. Battling his instincts for both good and evil, Snow sets out on a race against time to survive and reveal if he will ultimately become a songbird or a snake.
The way Lucy bows after the reaping is EXACTLY how katniss bows in front of the game makers during their private sessions
The likeness are intentional. They show us the reason why Snow reacts to Katniss the way he does – she reminds him of Lucy Grey Baird & the complicated feelinga of love, hate & betrayal those likeness ignite in him.
@Phil Strange things did happen here, no stranger would it be
That’s because it’s katnesses grandmother
@Mauricio Leonardo Flores Mostacero katnis would have not known who Lucy even was lol they didn’t get to know certain history that wasn’t fed to the people by snow so no thats not remotely but it is something that haunts snow an why snow was automatically threatened by her
@Coomiler Dont ask me, its what the autor said in an interview lately.
I GOT CHILLS WHEN I HEARD “ITS THE THINGS WE LOVE MOST THAT DESTROY US”
@Marilg93 now that you mention it, you’re right, but I doubt they’d use the same scene for a cameo.
In case anyone doesn’t remember: That line is from Mockingjay- Part 1. Snow said that to Katniss when she asked him if she had convinced him that she loved Peeta. As to why that line is in this trailer, read TBOSAS book and then you’ll know. 🤭
@Sebastian Amigo No. That’s what he said to Katniss when she asked him if she had convinced him that she loved Peeta, in Mockingjay- Part 1.
Sameeee

The Hunger Games era is back! I’m so excited! This looks incredible!!
@Brandon Thomas depending on the success it could spur more spinoffs. Production studios are on a spinoff kick right now
@Brandon Thomasit is this the prequel to the whole series
I mean it’s one movie so not really an era
THE ARENA LOOKS SO COOL!
At last! It’s amazing how close this trailer is to the novel. I can practically pinpoint every part to its place in the book. The acting is on top, the scenery breathtaking. I love seeing this old Capitol, how it’s rebuilding after the war. It’s so awesome!
I was so concerned when the director said “this is a story of love” and with all the teasers. Honestly, I love the trailer! I wonder what parts they are cutting from the book
@Chihiro Isabelle right, and agreed minimal complaints
@Chihiro Isabelle what if maybe it’s not THAT far in the future what if it’s like in 2060 i mean yea i get ur point tho with the retro tech
the fact i was literally naming the characters as i saw the like “that’s reaper! that’s sejanus!”
The goosebumps I just got hearing snows voice at the end! Bring on November!!!!⏱️
@Jada Jones I just finished the book last week, and judging by this trailer, the movie will be very accurate to the book. Definitely recommend reading it
@Jada Jones yea. But going to wait till it gets closer though.
@Stefanie McCallar looking at other comments and seeing how well the trailer has stuck to the book, I might do the same
@Jada Jones I plan to read it before the movie.
@Stefanie McCallar I joined in with the older version of him, oh how I just want to re-watch all the films all over again haha! I recently purchased the book too, not sure whether to read it or surprise myself
I was young and didn’t watch the Hunger Games when they first came out but I’m a huge fan of them now. I’m excited to be part of the fandom and super lucky that I get to experience the excitement for it with everyone else even if it’s the last time we will see a Hunger Games movie.
Exactly the same here!!! I’m sad I sort of missed that past era but excited and grateful that I get to experience this new movie with the fandom 🙂 <3
Welcome to the madhouse 😀
Me too! I joined the fandom way later than everyone else, so I’m so happy to be apart of for this now! 😄
Estoy llorando, no pude evitar emocionarme al ver esto, sobre todo al escuchar la voz de Donald al final y las cuatro notas de la melodía de Rue. ¡LO AMÉ!
Yo tambien!! Me emocionó mucho
Ya seee, ya quiero que sea noviembre para verla 😫😫
For a prequel this actually looks pretty good 👀
It’s a good book and this looks really promising
@joseph baffi but they both are set in a dystopian time era and they are set after a war so it makes sense why they have the same tone
@daniela hange i know its a book it just seems like they kept the other films style instead of making is own style because its not set in the same time
@joseph baffi wait until you find out its a BOOK by suzanne explaining snow’s life…
it looks like a bad copy of the 1st movie
The book was honestly perfect. The addition of Sejanus in the story was something that I enjoyed the most. Especially what happened in the end. Coryo is such a good villain.
I hate Sejanus, Coriolanus is my G
Yeah, but it’s kinda weird that he’s only shown for a second in the trailer, even though he has more scenes than Lucy in the book
Momma…😢
I’m part of the Sejanus Plinth Fangirl Community. 😊
Sejanus is by far my favorite character in the story
LA FORMA EN LA QUE LLORE VIENDO LA ESCENA DEL TRAILER Y LA ROSA CUANDO SE CONOCEN BASTA ESTO VA GENIAL
