I waited my entire life for a show like True Detective. Watching season one was like taking ecstasy. It was pure perfection! Hopefully season three can live up to that standard!

    • Cinema Sorcery says:

Cary Joji Fukanga isn’t involved so it won’t be too great, but I have my hopes up

    • Connor McCartney says:

“Watching season 1 was like taking ecstasy” calm down.

    • Connor McCartney says:

      +HerikzoonH It’s not cancelled, it’s on hold…

    • Kylo Targaryen says:

+Connor McCartney I remember watching the promos and thinking, “This looks like my ideal show.” And you know what? It was! Season one is my favorite season of television ever. Right behind it is Fargo season two, Breaking Bad season five, The Wire season four and The Leftovers season three.

    • Tony Lawliet says:

+t40364 i disagree, i thought Season 2 suffered from a character development, pacing and narrative standpoint. The acting and cast was fine but for an actual story it was poorly handled. Im glad others enjoyed Season 2 but it lack these qualities in my opinion.

  2. Manuel Reznor says:

This part of my life, this little part, is called happiness.

  3. angrytacos says:

mahershala ali is an great actor, looking forward to this season, hopefully its more like season 1

    • FabiyVal says:

      How about Diacon Frost?

    • IntoTheFray says:

      angrytacos he’s incredible

    • Wingson Souza says:

i see all these coments about mahershala’s talent and i think, since when he is a “Al Pacino”/Bruce Lee? i must live in a island…
he was very boring (the character dont helped too) in luke cage, and not much demanded in house of cards…
anyway, i hope he impress me , i love TD and that S2 was a crime

  4. mcrazza says:

This is what happened after Remy left the Underwoods.

  5. Arcadiy Ivanov says:

Please as good as season 1!

  6. Omari Daniels says:

This was the definition of a nice surprise. Came to watch Sharp Objects and got a tease for True Detective, too. Nicely done, HBO.

  7. Eagle of Death Metal says:

Vince Vaughn and Collin Farrell were great in season 2.

    • Jonas Ristau says:

Yes, the acting was fine. The season was missing a great director covering up the many flaws of Pizzolatto’s writing, as Fukunaga did more often than not in the first season.

    • HerikzoonH says:

      +Eagle of Death Metal XDD

    • C. G. Palanysamy says:

you mispelled Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey and season 1 !

    • Leisa Stalnaker says:

I think they tried. The story had massive problems. I may have to sit down and re-watch, since some time has passed. I think, like what I see from this trailer, that the protagonist has to be dialed down to as few as people as possible. That was season 2’s problem, too many lead characters and a convoluted plot. Westworld is easier to follow.

    • Da Zendi says:

So good that we haven’t seen them in anything of note ever since.

  8. BigTulsa says:

All you people bitching about season 2. Was season 2 as good as season 1? No. Was it good in its own right? Yes. Lot of y’all on here make it sound like it was Razzy material. Keep in mind Season 2 was NEVER going to live up to Season 1. HBO rushed Nic for S2. No such rushing going on with this one. I’ll tamp down expectations. It likely won’t be as good as season 1. First look is good though.

  10. ShadyGMA says:

The 70s is gonna be an awesome setting

  11. jd899 says:

January needs to get here quickly.

  12. Pseudiom says:

“I wanna know the whole story,” I’m looking forward to knowing it with you, buddy.

  13. laylah li says:

Mahershala being in it is the only reason I’m interested.

  14. Patrick Tomasso says:

His whole monologue in this is exactly how I feel about season 1.

I want to know the whole story.

    • Никита ΠœΠ°Π»Ρ‹ΡˆΠ΅Π² says:

Tramain Bacchus Yet I disagree, it’s very good but highly overrated. Anyway, it’s only an opinion of one man, no big deal.

    • Random Ninja says:

Patrick Tomasso like comment and share me recent video if u please

    • 999SickBoy666 says:

About season 1, you already know the whole story. It begins in episode 1 and ends in episode 8. The lovecraftian and mystical elements, as fascinating as they are, are just that: elements. And, exactly like in Lovecraft’s work, the supernatural (or, in TD case, the hint of supernatural) is there to talk about something far more serious – the bleakest depth of the human nature.

Season 1’s story did this perfectly, and that story is over. Season 2’s story did the same, although in a different way, and that story is over too.

    • Doug M. says:

I thought the first season was pretty open and shut. Not all the bad guys got caught, but the whole crazy sex abuse club was explained. The end.

  15. zouheir17 says:

Let’s be crystal clear, nothing will be as perfect and mind-blowing as the first season with Rust Cohle but I really hope this season 3 is intellectual and deep, I really miss that feeling from season 1.

    • Sir John Hammond says:

That’s certainly a bit of an extreme interpretation. He accepted meaning in the universe, it never got too specific about it if I recall correctly.

    • Sir John Hammond says:

Besides, things like that happen all the time in real life with NDEs or psychedelics. There are experiences that change you pretty much literally overnight.

    • Badmartigan says:

I get what you are feeling. It is easy to judge the ending.. Rust wanted to die. He even mentions about his life being filled with horrible things and being ready to “tie it off”. Him surviving may seem like a happy ending. Perhaps it is for the viewer, but not for a person like him. “The world needs bad men, we keep the other bad men from the door.” If you want to let it affect you than just assume him and Marty are running that PI business getting into some dark cases still trying to fight the evil.

    • ogfridgeman says:

“intellectual and deep” yo dude you ever heard of this sick cartoon Rick and morty???

    • Justin Jimenez says:

I thought the ending was the perfect close to Rust’s arc. And I am more of a fan of unhappy endings but Rust had a whole string of bad things happen to him. He was basically emotionally numb the entire season. His last thoughts about the night sky was perfect. It may have made sense for him to die but it actually made more sense for him to live because it was that experience that created a shift in his perspective. And a dynamic character is always better than a static one.

  16. Wales says:

    Only 1 main character? Interesting.

  17. AgentMcQueen says:

    Please be good…

‘Starring Academy Award Winner *Mahershala Ali* ‘

    Okay HBO, you got me!

  18. Buenomars says:

Solo detective? No partner? I’m fine with that too… can never get enough of Mahershala!

  19. Jiggy Bah says:

Season 1 is legendary. A+ Shit

  20. Brianna says:

This guy is like the Denzel of this generation….his acting is phenomenal and he’s getting major roles

    • Pierre V. Wilson says:

I think Jordan was really great in CREED. I’m excited for CREED II. I really think Jordan is a way better actor than will smith. will smith is very mediocre. I only love smith in ALI By Michael Mann.

    • C. Γ–. says:

have you seen the latest episode of the new season of luke cage? that is why….

    • Pat H says:

now i want to see him and DENZEL in a movie!!! can you imagine???

    • longhorns13192 says:

Pierre V. Wilson I like MBJ, but that dude can’t really act, he’s a product of great written characters and Coogler. Ali is a much better actor
