Tbh I don’t even get why they partnered up in the first place. They are complete opposites! Singing styles and personalities! Absolutely no chemistry between them on stage. They would’ve probably done better if they each had partners that their voices and personality matched with and blended together

    • Jeannette Hernandez says:

A lot of people would’ve been opposite of him. Opposites or not, the point of this challenge is to show teamwork, communication, and compromise – they both failed the competition, themselves, and each other.

@Jeannette Hernandez I see where you’re coming from but the show is about finding talented singers not finding people who are good at team work. The show should focus on the purpose of the show.

    • Rebeka Varga says:

@am_ have you ever done music? A true musician cooperates, has to be humble etc. Noone can become successful with only their good singing voice and that is the best way to make the judges see if you are humble enough or not. They wouldn’t have been corrupted if they had supported each other. It would have shown the good sides of their nature.

    • am_ says:

@Rebeka Varga i sing in the shower and car sometimes. Lol but I understand what you are saying but making two singers in completly different genres sing together is definitley a disadvantage compared to for exampe couples or firends who sing the same style of music and done it together for years. Even singers who don’t know each other have an advantage if they are similar. I get the whole humble, team work stuff I just don’t think it’s necessary nor a fair way to do a solo competition. Doesn’t matter though neither of them would have gotten far anyway there are too many good contestants.

  2. Mister Mile says:

There was no energy in this performance, both looked like they didn’t want to be there

  3. Anthony says:

If they couldn’t agree on a song they shoulda gave her or him a different partner

  4. Lindsey Monti says:

They should have stuck with ain’t no mountain high enough.. it would have been much better.

    • elle says:

yes i agree. just pick an old classic and get it over with. ain’t no mountain high, easy to learn , familiar to most people. They were way too indecisive and picky about their song choice and it cost them both the chance to continue in the competition.

    • Ashley Winston George says:

She changed it because she was bored with it.. in other words.. screw him.. and he screwed himself by agreeing to it.. they both deserved to go home

    • am_ says:

They should have been able to choose their own song and sing that song solo. If this show is about finding Americas best talented singer why are they putting the singers in these types of situations? I hate it for all of the contestants.

    • Chase Mendenhall says:

am_ my thoughts exactly. How are you gonna make a guy with a raspy rock music type voice sing a fucking arianna grande song?

  5. Susan Charles says:

I must say Zack looked lost and uninterested.

    • Mari Scott says:

The way he gleefully said, “I get to go home”, while they walked off stage really showed how little he wanted this.

    • Mari Scott says:

@Chase Mendenhall What did he pick? He was so focused on playing guitar, all the songs lyrics came 2nd. If he knew the words he could play the tune/improvise.

    • Brian McAlpine says:

Mari Scott obviously it was a bit of a coping mechanism because he was disappointed in the way things went down and he was anxious and overwhelmed, as was she as you can tell by the way she sounded singing a song that she got to take all of, and still didn’t do well with it

    • Brian McAlpine says:

Mari Scott he had a very very unique voice compared to her who was talented but sounded like everyone else, it was an unfortunate pairing but his laid back personality was taken advantage of

    • Jl Steel says:

IMMA DRIFTO loved your response. There are two sides to every story and then there is what really happened. Sometimes we need to give people the benefit of the doubt, but all too often we don’t. God bless you.

  6. 592bwoy 1 says:

he was the only person i wanted to see this show is getting on my nerves now

  7. nash hikari says:

that was probably the worst chemistry in the group round ever, and that is saying a lot since there have been many. But this one was just a disaster with 2 polar opposite style colliding, he just gave up and she just wouldn’t take a single step outside her comfort in a duet performance.

    • Brian McAlpine says:

nash hikari she showed that she will never have what it takes to do music. Life isn’t all roses and peaches and shit you have to be able to be flexible and she fucked over probably the most unique person of the season.

    • Mari Scott says:

He didn’t step out of his comfort zone either. He needs to learn pop tunes to increase his versatility.

    • Brian McAlpine says:

Mari Scott why would he need to do that when he is as far from a pop singer as there can be lol. He stepped as far out as possible by agreeing to do an Ariana grande song. Be real with yourself.

    • Brian McAlpine says:

Mari Scott you have an obvious bias here.

  8. Cody RatliffTM says:

Regardless of who’s fault, it will go down as a lesson for both of them, but how they take that lesson is up to them..Failure is Fuel for the next Fire!!

  9. Jordan Krbec says:

One of the biggest things I hate about American idol. Some talent gets cut because two totally different voices/genres collide. In a bad way

    • bhaiamitabh says:

They got the choice of finding their own partners based on their style and influence. Seems like no one took them and they had to pair against each other.

  10. Natalie Peterson says:

Zack must return heat year! I agree, it isn’t a “memorizing competition”. Yes, it’s a performance competition, but he is obviously genuine, sincere and agreeable. And he still is a diamond. So many who went through were so similar. He was One of the the most original; could he not have been judged based on his past performance?

  11. heartsofgoldenrod says:

Lionel was right. When you sing with someone, you don’t ditch them on the stage. Glad they both learned from this. It will only enhance them.

  12. T Slavens says:

Zack is being unprofessional and selfish.

  13. Nathanael Salazar says:

Worst partner EVER, they weren’t in their elements. Felt like the show screwed them over

  14. Steve Miner says:

Wanted to see this kid go through, but wanted to slap him too. Felt bad for his partner😐

  15. Kaylee_kntm says:

He’s right. It’s a singing competition so why is he so worried about his guitar 🤦🏽‍♀️

  16. Ebo J. says:

I paused right at 5:33. I’m not doing this with them. They’re both at fault. Hopefully they’ll learn and going on to do well.

  17. Ashley Michelle says:

I cant even finish this. I got second hand embarrassment. Yall should have stuck with ain’t no mountain. Cause this was trash

  18. Lolmonster777 says:

Ok i don’t wanna be a party pooper but I never liked Zack. He has a good voice but his attitude in the audition was like “I don’t know” “I don’t know music”. It’s like bruh don’t be here if you’re not serious. Some people dedicate their lives to music. Take it seriously

  19. Nicole Victoria says:

I wish he would have spoken up, he’s super talented.

  20. Nikki A says:

They shouldn’t have been paired together- it seemed like a mismatch. He was happy to go home and she really wanted it but no matter what he played she was going to sound wrong. They should have worked it out with the pianist so at least she could have had a baseline to rely on…:(
