Why does Louisiana not turn all lanes into outbound lanes during an evacuation? Saw the same thing with Katrina. Here in Texas all lanes only go outbound during evacuation with maybe one lane as an inbound lane if not a mandatory evacuation.

@MMMK Contra-flow has been used in every SE LA evacuation situation since long before Katrina, and it was done for Katrina. It didn’t happen this time because the idiot democrat mayor of New Orleans didn’t prepare for implementing it. Also, three of New Orleans’ drainage pumps are not working, which is due to more incompetence.

The worst risk is a levee breach, again. There are so many miles of levees that have to function and the pumps also need to stay on. This is going to be a heck of a test of the upgrades they put in since Katrina.

As people leave for safety, I feel heavy-hearted for the animals, wondering how many pets will be left behind. I do not have family to lose, and I could accept losing my house, car and other material things, but it would devastate me to lose my little kitty’s. I could not never leave them behind.

Be safe folks. Take care of your family and pets. Put clothes in plastic bags if you can.

That’s crazy that it’s exactly 16 years. I’m so worried for all the people in hospitals that can’t easily evacuate

It’s a good thing that George Bush isn’t in office, isn’t it?

A duddering old man in the oval office is the last thing on earth that we need right now, isn’t it?

      Oh, wait…

    • Rocky Racoon says:

@doughesson . Lets hope the federal government’s response is better this time, but given what’s just occurred in Afghanistan I do have my worries and doubt.
