I’m adopted. This really made me think hard about what it would have been like for my mother to give birth to me and have to leave me. We (her and I) are from a really poor village in India. My adoptive family and I think she just couldn’t take care of me. I don’t doubt that it was hell for her to have to leave me just after birth. I never really sat down and thought about what that was like for her. I mean, I have, but never enough to actually process things because I thought that if I thought about it too much it would wreck me. But I think it’s time I should process those feelings.
