I completely agree with her. It was awful to watch and no one did anything.

  2. BabyGrand77 says:

The hosts did a great job and I’m so happy that Wanda wasn’t afraid to call Will Smith out for his actions.

  3. Jack Koba says:

Spot on Wanda, so far you’ve said it better than anyone !!!!

    • Dis2good says:

@MsStanford a lot of them have. Steve Harvey, Kevin Hart, Candace Owens, Rickey Smiley, Whoopi Goldberg. MANY of them have. EVERYONE agrees that Will Smith was wrong and his behavior was unacceptable.

    • Dis2good says:

@sehven dusk are you going out of your way to…. Make what point? Focus on the real issue at hand. Negativity and violence does not solve ANYTHING. That is the point.

    • Dis2good says:

Yeah. Check out what Jim Carey said. Hé nailed it right on the head. That behavior was completely unacceptable.

    • terry s says:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also has a great post worth reading about it.

    • Liche Christ says:

@sehven dusk – No competition intended. The debauched and unexplainable assault performed by Smith Sunday night, in public venue and broadcast worldwide on television was indeed reactionary and open to so many comments and opinions.

  4. ALECIA FACEY says:

My goodness the fact that Chris Apologized to Miss Wanda that speaks volume. A man of character am telling you.

    • C R says:

Chris Rock is a classy guy. He gets slapped in the face but still think of others.

    • Skip says:

@Pearlie Harris If a black woman walks in with an afro and I call her Foxy Brown, would that be tasteless and inappropriate?

    • ForeverSweetx3 says:

@Pearlie Harris Chris didn’t know that SHE had alopecia. So have several seats. He thought Jada did that as a style choice.
Way to blame the victim of the situation. Shame on YOU!

    • ForeverSweetx3 says:

@ManLikeMoe SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK. I don’t think Pearlie Harris can hear too well or reason to well for that matter.

    • Kenneth Turner says:

@Cloroz weepvmundosalazar half the population have done it. Pearlie Harris done it to. People like her just like someone so much that right and wrong doesn’t matter.

  5. Ari Anover says:

Thanks Wanda Sykes for standing up for Chris and not condone violence

    • Tray Daniel says:

Let’s also not forget to thanks Jim Carrey for standing up for Chris. I was also sickened too

  6. snofagun1814 says:

Big Kudos to Wanda for having a spine and saying what should have really happened to will…

  7. Laydee Phoenix says:

The way so many people romanticizing violence is shocking. I am a woman. If my husband ‘defended’ me that way, I will be embarrassed, period! Kudos to Chris for being professional and continuing on stage.

    • Lau says:

      same here….horrible

    • Joie Dianzon says:

You are a very classy lady. No woman in their right mind would want to be defended by getting their loved ones into violence because the situation could escalate really quickly and then you don’t know what would happen next. I remember someone asking, if it had been The Rock or someone bigger, would Will and Jada react the same way?

    • Sheila R says:

@Stevo7771 False. It’s a joke about a movie, at an awards show for movies. I cannot fathom the level of narcissism it takes to expect the whole world to be abreast of your own health issues. Nobody knew. It was just about short hair, not alopecia. And still, nothing justifies assault. He didn’t “stand up for victims of bullying.” He was the bully.

    • Sheila R says:

@Josephine Bournes I’m sure that’s meant to be pithy, but it’s a bit light on details. If you’re condoning assault and battery in response to a joke, then you’re confused.

  8. Christine Yetman says:

Wanda hit the nail right on the head..the fact that Will could just go back to his seat was appalling..and then receive his Oscar was sickening..and the applause and ovation he also got was a shameful response to his actions..Chris was the Rock that night…good on him..he was the better man for sure

    • apoclypse says:

@Jen W I mean you can watch the video and people are standing up and clapping. You can watch video of Denzel, Tyler Perry and Bradley Cooper consoling him like he was the one that was wronged. C’mon now this is all on video. That room stood up and cheered him.

    • Sally Phillips says:

According to the Academy, Will was asked to leave after the incident but refused.

    • the supreme says:

      Chris was asking for it.

    • Herbert Longfellow says:

And he got to give a rambling pointless speech for 5 minutes. The privilege….

  9. maggierosemoore says:

Props to Wanda for saying this. I applauded her right from home. Major respect for saying what what needed to be said.

  10. WhiteRabbit556 says:

I lost a lot of respect for the Oscars and those spineless celebrities giving will smith a standing ovation. Thanks Wanda for speaking up. Hope Oscars doesnt continue anymore it is so hypocritical.

    • Old Aussie Ads says:

@Kory Kent I think you’re misunderstanding who’s the Karen in the conversation.

    • Old Aussie Ads says:

I too am appalled by that standing ovation. It was completely ridiculous. But to play devils advocate, can you imagine being the only one staying seated if you were in the audience? I hope I would have had the guts to stay seated but… I don’t know. I’ve had my fair share of cowardly moments.

    • SearchingSoul says:

Same but to be honest I have been losing respect for most entertainment industries around the world. They are filthy-minded and always causing problems and being hypocrites. It’s not even just in Hollywood but all around the world…

    • JoWhit says:

Very sickening, Jim Carrey said something similiar.

    • the supreme says:

@Toni Dipaolo yup. they said what they said
