I thought this was a well written break-down of different shapes: https://www.saraheberle.com/understanding-the-various-shapes-of-trimmer-line/
It’s interesting that so many different companies have their own proprietary shape etc, but I can’t find any scientific research to back any of it up. Fascinating!

Robert subscribed then hit the bell. Be more like Robert. In all seriousness I was impressed by how quickly he came up with a well thought out, nuanced hypothesis without even a moment’s notice. Huge thanks to Robert. Also, a huge thanks to everyone who supports Smarter Every Day on Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/smartereveryday
Thank you!

How do you know people searched Google for weed eater because they use the term regularly and not because they have never heard it before but wanted to know more?
Very unscientific.
Iiii iiiii করে না কি করবো বুঝতে পারছি না কি করবো বুঝতে পারছি না oo করে না o
@Wild_Beast from YT no one collects it afterwards either way
SO I believe the spiral thing is to reduce vortex shedding and stop the string from just flapping about, causing tiny amounts of surface turbulence by using a spiral helps that’s why, at least that’s my initial theory
Maybe the star shaped one takes a chunk out of it that makes it look like a clean cub because of the divots in it.
In the future, humour will be randomly generated
*w e e d e a t e r*
WEED WHACKER! they didn’t cut squat, in this video. They Aundre the Giant open palmed WHACKed them in half.
I spat out my blue milk
I was looking for this comment lmao
Expected this to be here somewhere

New series idea: Smarter every day ft. Robert on literal rocket science.
Australians would call it “whipper snipper” lol
its also use by old people as a term for young people lol
Surprised they don’t call it a Grazzy Razzy
@Merxwell Nah mate, that’s a whipper snapper 🙂
Yep and brush cutter or clearing saw for ones with metal heads.
Weird that english has different terms for it, in czech we call all land mowers and eat wheaters the same… “Sekačka na trávu” or “sekačka” just in short.
6:58 did you really just say: “intereSTRING’? Destin… you master of masters
me: lives in an apartment in an urban jungle. the most natural thing I have seen in my life is a rat when waiting for the metro at the station.
Youtube: which shape cuts best
me: ooh I wonder which shape it is! I must know!
Larry: In the future entertainment will be randomly generated
Robot: weed eater
From Toronto. Always been weed wacker, never heard weed eater till today.
I’ll keep using the term “weed wacker” because “weed eater” should be reserved for the hash brownie lovers.
You’ll miss out on some good double entendres though.
I’m a simple man. I see “weed” in the title, I click.
POV: you’re looking through the comments to see if Robert commented…
Nah I’m just looking to see if anyone even recognizes Robert as the best part of this video
Nah, I was actually looking through the comments to find the ones talking about looking for a comment from Robert.
Yep
Destin: “Alabama people are with it”
Robert: “… some of us are”
Me: *ROTFLOL*
Dude Robert needs a YouTube channel.
Robert: I’m no expert.
Also Robert: Lemme school you up on linear density.
I like how experts often times say they are not an expert.
They realize that there is more to learn after all the time they have perfected their craft which I think truly shows their intelligence
@Kyle Oien that’s called Dunning-Kruger effect
@JV That’s imposter syndrome. Dunning-Kruger effect is the opposite of it. Its when people who are incompetent at something are unable to recognize their own incompetence.
@Mirzac Andrei Impostor syndrome is feeling undeserving of what you get, thinking you don’t and never will deserve it. The Dunning-Kruger effect is someone who understands the true size of their field realising that even though they know far more than others, they still have way more to learn.
It’s like Smarter Every Day and Project Farm had a lovechild!
Ah yes. “Why did the chicken cross the road”
Australian here, it’s pronounced “whippa snippa”
Yea good old Whippa Snippa mate
Same here in eastern Canada
Me :
“How high are you?”
