This movie looks fantastic and the fact that it’s going to straight to Netflix, everywhere other than America, is a fucking crime.

Ex Machina… Intense , not everyone’s cup,of tea.. But amazing film.
This looks really interesting. I want to see it , I’m always surprised at how many bad films make it too the big screen . And so many good and great films. Don’t ..

  7. Xavier Castillo says:

First book in this series was probably the best. Looking forward to this.

    • AlienAbsence says:

Definitely not. Compared to the first book the other 2 are pretty dull.

    • Xavier Castillo says:

Artimis Lestrange agree with alien absence – the first book is mysterious and kinda scary, the others are much more dry and somewhat procedural.

    • King Chrollo says:

Xavier Castillo there are no dark skin black women the film so I’m looking forward to it.

I loved book 2 actually. I know a lot of people found it slow, but for some reason it made the climax that much more intense. Kind of like Blade Runner, where it doens’t rush to it’s destination. I’ve never enjoyed 200+ pages of exposition as much as I did with Authority. The third book was great too.

So sad we’ll never get to see Jane Foster Thor. Idk if it was greed or if she really doesn’t appreciate comic book films 😡😭

Renigade16 he is stating facts….no racist comment, but if you mean a “race” against other races, then yes, white people do get this advantage because of rape, competing and Rhesus monkey blood

The Israel Zionist KIKE (((Jews))) own the media and the minds of the Americans. Trump is waking everybody up to the atrocities of the 1%. The Jews are the 1% and they don’t like it because now there is a spotlight on them, so the Jews retaliate by slandering Trump’s reputation. Trump fights back and the brainwashed neoliberal Clinton/Obama supporters think that Trump is un-Presidential and he should be impeached. Trump says #FakeNews. Neoliberals say #TrueNews. 1945 = Hitler is mad at London, Paris, Berlin, and Rome for controlling too much of Europe. The Jews take control of the history textbooks to revise our recollection of the 1900’s. 2017 = Trump is mad at San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington D.C. for controlling too much of America. The Jews take control of the media/internet to revise our recollection of the 2000’s. This is the geopolitical story of the century, not the rise of China or the breakup of the Soviet Union. The story is the Jews and how they always seem to be involved, sticking their big noses into everyone’s shekels. (Always remember, there are no Jews in the wild, they only live in cities where there are people, and where there are people there is power because the Jews know how to persuade with usury and play the victim. Ev… er… y… time…) Feel free to copy and paste my message as much as your big heart desires, and good luck to Palestine. =) (=

  11. Bill Rogers says:

This seems like a near-total departure from the book.

    • Steady Mobbin' says:

Tholesund It probably is…The reason that it’s debuting on netflix in most places is that the producers thought it was too outside of the mainstream for general audiences…Which basically sounds to me like they stayed veeery true to the source material lol

    • Antal Kéninger says:

Just like the “What happened to Monday” movie. It was so popular in Hungary you can actually see it in cinemas and not only on Netflix. 🙂 So who knows…

    • Stuart Reed says:

I don’t know if I necessarily have issues with that. The book was fantastic, but I’m open to the film being a bit different- also, I think this trailer is purposefully meant to look “intense” so they will bring on a larger audience. If you noticed, they only seemed to use one main action-like scene for this trailer- so, I’m assuming it’s not really going to be how it looks from this.

    • Funky South says:

I agree with you Bill. The author may have approved it but that doesn’t mean it stays that close to the book. This basically looks like a weird version of Alien or Predator and the book was nothing like that. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad movie but I’m much less interested in seeing it now after this trailer. When I first heard they were doing this movie I wondered how they could capture that same sense of weirdness in the book. Apparently they can’t considering the route they are going. The movie may be weird but so far it doesn’t feel at all like the book. That’s not really a criticism though. There are things books can do that movies can’t and vice versa.

    • Bill Rogers says:

Yeah, I just re-watched the video: Very different. The biologist did not strike me as the kind of woman who giggles when being tickled. She is not ex military. There are only four women in the book – not five. “The Shimmer”? In the book, the barrier wasn’t visible in that way (if at all). What is the bear-skull-fang-beast? Nothing like that happened in the book. The light house was never taken over by a weird, cross-dimensional organic-looking orifice. The Tower was referred to as having “Stairs” – not just a tunnel into the ground at an angle.None of the women are snatched through a door at any point. There is no crocodile-shark hybrid. No evaporating crystal trees. The Southern Reach building is totally different. The light house is never struck by a (?) meteor.

Some may argue that these are small changes, but if that is true, why make them? I hope what Steady Mobbin’ says is true, but is seems very different to me – both in the details and the over-all tone.

  12. Skull Dude says:

Nice movie but it was really short.

  13. oskamunda says:

Is there a plot-related reason they are all women?

    • Brandon Mikesell says:

In the books they send several different expeditions into Area X (that’s the name they’ve designated for the area where all the weird stuff is happening) to gather data. They have no idea what’s going on there so try several different variables each expedition in an effort to obtain more data. One of those variables is an all women expedition.

    • oskamunda says:

Okay, that’s what I was wondering. If it’s actually plot-related and relevant in that way, I’m totes on board.

….if it was something else, totes not on board.

    • King Chrollo says:

oskamunda I’m just glad there are no dark skinned black women in the movie. I think we can all agree that they’re ugly and irrelevant.

    • oskamunda says:

And clearly neither intelligent enough to be sciencey types nor responsible enough to be military types, as well.

    • Tanya Kaufman says:

Do you have a problem with that?
